Ouch. I had to get a molar tooth removed last winter because it was so severely impacted through my lower gum it was literally on top of the nerves on my jaw bone. My dentist said he nearly paralyzed my bottom left jaw if he wasn't careful.

It sure as hell hurts, feel better man. It will take a few days until you notice an improvement.

I had my five (yes, five) wisdom teeth cut out last week. They were actually cut out because they hadn't erupted from the gums yet. I had to swallow a ton of blood too, I even choked a couple of times. It really ****ing hurt and still does a bit. So I kinda know how you feel, though it wasn't gum graft surgery.

I had to take Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen so I don't know about Vicodin. Did you just take it? My medication took about half an hour to really kick in, I don't know about yours but mine did. If it isn't working at all, maybe you should call the surgeon and let them know so they might recommend a different painkiller? Otherwise, maybe you should take a nap if you can.

I'm sorry to hear you're in so much pain, I hope you feel better real soon.

Brush your teeth, kiddies. It'll keep you from getting gingivitis and other problems like this.
Having your wisdom teeth pulled out suuuuck. 2 of my bottom ones were sideways, grinding up against my other teeth, hurt like hell. They had to saw them in half. Luckily I was higher than a kite when they did it.

I can't quite say how to help that much. But being braces and going through some pain myself I'd say.

  • Try to clot the blood with napkins or tissues.
  • For food, I'm pretty sure after that you'd not want to bite into anything if your teeth/mouth are sore. Try drinking some water, or some drinks. For food department, eat soft foods. Or at least foods you don't have to really chew up. Like Ice cream (Actually that might be good for your bleeding gums.), pudding, mashed potatoes (you might as well add gravy on it for flavor reasons), noodles (and crackers if you dip your crackers in the soup), you get the idea at this point.
  • When your mouth is all better from whatever you did. Try to at least brush your teeth before going to bed, and see if you can floss often so your mouth is used to being flossed and not bleed. Trust me on this, it will save you from a butt ton of issues.

That's all I have to say. Hopefully this would help you a bit.

Most people tend to get them out... They can grow in at an awkward angle or crowd your other teeth. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones who don't have to get them out though!

I'm not sure if I even do have my wisdom teeth, but I'm sure I never really had to get the dentist to pull my teeth out.
