What if we're simply thinking too hard about this. Activision has said that there would be 18 core characters in this year's game. But, if I remember correctly, two of the three voting characters will not be chosen for Trap Team. If we take the 16 cores that will be there for sure and add the two losing voting characters, we get..... 18 cores. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they would have revealed 18 cores but only have 16 released. That could be all this means. Any thoughts or corrections?

I still think it's because of the Frito Lay contest which makes one official and the other two are also thrown in. Someone on Youtube asked if all three were made and was told that they have made figures of all three. So my guess is the one contest winner is one and the other two are runner ups with their tentative names with the standard 2 of each element.

Thats almost exactly what I was thinking. I was thinking that they wouldnt implement the runner ups but just count them towards the total of 18

I think only one will be fan-named and the other will be the standard names.

Yes that's exactly what they meant by the winner. Little does anyone know that the winner mainly gets the right on the name and not so much the pure existence of the character. All three were gonna get made as is as they looked way to finished in production and again some has confirmed that all three have figures made.

Humm no, it seems to me that the three of them High Five, Flip Wreck and Bat Spin will be in the game, the votes were only to pick the winner of the prize.

They've already admitted that they've coded all three into the game, so we ARE going to see toys for all three eventually.

They all will have company made backstories. The things we were given are just descriptions of the characters. Not the actual full backstory things they usually write.
