I'll preorder it if

1) Bring it to GameStop

2) Make it for the Wii

3) have the deal where you get the Wii U version free.

It looks great and I hope for a Dark Snap Shot.

So who wants to sell me their Dark Wildfire and the Kaos trap? Otherwise I have no interest in the Dark Edition yet again. I dont think the variant figures for the most part look any better. Curious if the Kaos trap has a variant of some sort on Kaos or its just a normal variant colored trap able to trap him.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was Wii U-only. *If* the US version of the Wii edition gets the Wii U download copy, then this Dark Edition might be the thing to get Wii U folks to pick up the physical version.

If it is a Wii U only, then clearly I won't be getting it. I don't have one and I refuse to buy a starter for a system I don't own just to buy their figures. That'd be a poor move on Activision's part.

This is what I'm fearing as well. I hope this comes on the Wii version with that Wii-U upgrade. It would be SO damm handy for me!

I am more afraid that it will be the only way to get the Kaos trap for now. I refuse to buy a starter set just to get a trap...seems like such a waste of money.

I think there will be dark in any pack release (ps4 ps3 xbox360 wii wii xbox one U)

If the Dark edition gives us a couple extra toys then yes i will be interested . If its the same number as the ordinary starter then ....... no . I like Food Fight being green .

It also comes with Dark Wildfire and the Kaos Trap, so it does come with more.

Is the dark starter pack available to pre-order in store yet or is it an online exclusive as of now?

Food fight looks really bad dark in my opinion.
Only one I like is Wildfire, but I like him gold too... might buy this on sale later in the year seeing i'm probably saving my preorder for DI. Skylanders always seems to go on sale.

Oh right, I forgot about that screen. Thanks Shane, hopefully those were all true and not some kind of mistake.

I like them. I honestly didn't think snapshot and food fight would look good in black and silver, but they came out nicely. A little disappointed that it's only 3 figures. Generally, it seems 2 traps equals one figure, so it feels like we are short a trap (or take out the kaos trap and put in a figure). My kids definitely want this, however, looking back on how much the dark figures were played last time, not sure it's worth it. Then again, wash buckler, blast zone, and slobber tooth weren't that great of characters, while stealth elf and spyro were series 3s. I think these 3 guys will have more use.

I'm sure both the german Amazon site and TRU put these up by mistake. The Germans probably misread the release date (date and month are in different orders over there), while TRU screwed up only 1 of the console versions, putting in today's date instead of the release date.

So this opens up a lot of questions:
1 - Since it's on Amazon De and TRU, does that mean that this is not going to be a store exclusive this time around? It's possible TRU is exclusive in US, while Amazon gets in for De. On the other hand, it seems doubtful that TRU would go for an exclusive dark edition since they are about legendaries.
2 - If this is a TRU exclusive, will they also have legendaries still? My guess is that comes up with these variants on their own, then bids them out to the different retailers. If so, it possible that TRU thought that having the dark edition was important enough to establish themselves as the source for skylanders to get the dark edition and have legendaries. Or, they decided to splurge for both.
3 - If there are no legendaries, perhaps TRU will get some other sort of exclusive as well.
4 - Will the dark edition have the same 'extra figure' perk that the regular editions will? Last year, Gamestop did, so I imagine that will be the case. If this isn't a store exclusive, it's even more likely.
5 - Does the Kaos trap hold a variant of Kaos, since the trap is a variant? If so, I would think that'd be a huge selling point.

Think i'll hold on either legendary or dark. With the sales , including 50% off after holidays, that happenned I can always grab those packs. A hell of alot cheaper than what the preorder is going for. The Kaos trap itself cant be exclusive to the dark edition, too many people into skylanders are going for trap team just for that reason. Dont get me wrong, I do like the dark edition, just dont feel like getting sucked up into $100 when I know what i need ( the kaos trap ) will be widely available and the price will be marked down substantially at some point.

I'm so excited and already pre ordered mine. I'm getting both starter packs dark and reg and 3ds. I've been saving since may though now I have to really ramp it up more

Wow...This is really cool. Although I think I still prefer regular snap shot to dark. Much prefer Dark Wildfire and Dark Food Fight. Kaos trap is a nice bonus.

Is there a pre-order bonus with Toys R Us for this starter pack, or only for the regular starter?

I negative comment from ghostroaster? Didn't see that coming! I will give you some credit on a relatively creative approach though. And I'll also point out that me taking on the devil's advocate role is a big shocker as well.

@Ghost P.S. Dark Starter Pack fit in better with the context of SF because the Darklanders' backstory involves Evilisation Crystals, which were a notable part of SF's story.

I think making this year's special pack have some new Cores, with weapons made to look like Traptainum, would be more fitting. Or even Trap Masters with solidly-painted weapons. Both with some other recolouring, of course, because it wouldn't be that interesting just to make those changes. I can't think of an explaination for them like the Darks have, but (in my opinion) something like that would be more interesting because it wouldn't be a total retread and would be a reference to something in the current game.

I think Tread Head/Blades could look cool, if their treads/blades took a Traptanium-esque appearance, while they had a new colour scheme. Fist Bump could also look nice, with his hand spikes turned to crystals. Ultimately, variants are one of the last things I care about which is why I'm not mentioning the Dark Starter much, but I still feel like they could have done something more interesting...

No, I'm talking about the normal Kaos Trap. That's something that everyone'll want. I wonder how limited it'll be. I hope I get it at launch.

So the only thing extra is the Kaos trap? Definitely not worth $25, even if it is some ultimate version. However, being that it's not a Gamstop exclusive, I would expect more deals, this time around. I wanted to get the Dark Edition, last time, but since it was only at Gamestop, I passed. TRU usually has the best deals, especially on Black Friday. Hopefully, they'll have a similar deal on the dark edition as well. Gamestop, on the other hand, usually keeps their retail prices most of the time. It took them several months to have a decent sale on the starter packs. If TRU has a deal on the starter pack, and it's not $25 more, then I might consider getting it.

Am I the only one who noticed it is not for wii?!?

I'm torn...on one hand - there are no reposes, on the other hand I feel ripped off from a figure value stand point. On the same level though, take $75 base add $15 for Wildfire, puts it at $90, then the trap figures are what $6, so that's 96 bux of value...so you are paying 4 dollars for early access to Kaos figure and variant colorway.

While I know some people didn't like hte all gold Wyldfire - I actually did, I would have hoped a dark one would be all one color as well.

I still could give two tinykitties about food fight, but the other characters look good.

I'll just hold off for now. I need to see more characters and more info to decide what I'll invest in the game and then figure out if it's worth the money to most likely get Kaos 'early' for an additional few bucks.

It will be at every major retailer. TRU is the only place that has it up right now.
