Btw guys in smash4, before a match starts one of the customization options lets you equip up to 3 "items" that affect your stats.

Like a boxing glove that boosts punching power but lowers speed or ultra lightweight shoes that increase speed but lower overall power.
Although the option to do this is more then likely only available when fighting fellow friends
