What do you think are some of the darkest things for kids?

Courage the Cowardly Dog and Invader Zim EASILY come to my mind when talking about dark children's entertainment.

I just recently watched the episode "The Mask" and all I can say is... They got past domestic violence and implied rape on a kid's show. Also, lesbianism!

Let's see...
Genocide
Azula
makes a very suggestive comment regarding Suki being her "favorite prisoner". Sure it was probably just to mess with Sokka but still...

Azula in general "Isn't it obvious? I'm about to
celebrate becoming an only child!
", not to mention her ultimate fate
Throw in bloodbending too, and a host of other stuff, it's rather unsettling all they get away with under a Y7 rating, and Korra's not better (cause you know, murder suicides are just so perfectly fine for kiddies)

Kingdom Hearts too, though Nomaru stated it was more for adults anyway. Still, with an E10 rating, imagine how many kids bought them only to find
Genocide (that happens a lot in fiction as of late lol)
Stranglings
Easily some of the most terrifying Disney villains ever created
A ton of implications (Marluxia, who must be at very least 20, holds an 11 year old girl prisoner, is shown caressing her, and while with most of her captors merely have her look downward and stay quiet, around him, she's hyper alert and gives a slight gasp when he touches her. Oh and in the manga he uses his control over plants to bind her up, yah know, FOR KIDS)
Suicides (sure, sacrificial ones, but still, some of them had to be censored for western releases)
Axel causally immolating a man on his knees begging for mercy
Ooh and tons of telepathic assault and torture
Not to mention just all the trauma Roxas alone goes through

Transformers Prime also is a good example, 5 minutes into the pilot and we have a villain brutally executing a would-be main character.

There is a Spongebob fanfiction about Squidward committing suicide ;-;



And Squidward did try to commit suicide in one episode... In fact, lots of characters tried to commit suicide...

A lot of classic Disney movies did some scar-worthy things.

anyone remember when Clayton hanged himself by accident in Tarzan? Or when bambi's mother was shot off-screen? Or Claude's death in the Hunchback of Notre Dame? Or Dumbo's drunken visions?

or really anything that could've scarred you that came from a classic Disney movie.

Pinocchio had quite a few dark and disturbing elements in it, mostly those boys being donkeys (Lamplick turned into one. Pinocchio almost did as well, but didn't because Jiminy rescued him and took him to search for his father, only to be swallowed by Monstro... however, it turned out that Gepetto got swallowed too while he was out looking for Pinocchio, and the two were reunited inside the whale)

That and the fact that the movie had smoking in it as well.

But then again, most retro cartoons, TV shows, and movies have drug references in addition to other dark stuff in them.

This sounds kind of dumb but...Sock'em Boppers. Lots of my friends had these and some of them managed to break some teeth. I still remember that jingle lol.
