I'm hoping for an X-Men playset, and then just Disney characters. I didn't play the first Infinity because I really got interested a bit late, and there was big speculation of DI2, and the characters were supposed to be forward compatible, so I decided to wait.

Since Wolverine was in the first trailer I would guess we will see an X-men playset.

Whoa, whoa what?! Did I miss Wolverine?

No one else seems to notice it, so I'll leave this here.

2 new discs (Ant Man team up and some Asgardian horse) bringing the Marvel total to 30. Also, in the bit of the interior, look to the far left of the selections and you see not only Stan's chair, but the chess board, the Tv, the Bill rug, AND Stan's secret Vending Machine entrance.... (Pretty much confirming a Gravity Falls Play Set; Via the inclusion of so many furniture items and the sky disc and Shack seen in other vids)

He was in the launch trailer from a couple weeks ago.

Edit: I went back and watched the original trailer again and couldn't find him, maybe I saw something else that had him or maybe I'm remembering wrong.

LOVE the skill tree!


Now this is what is lacking in Skylanders, a way to grow your character the way you want to, just like many RPG games like Final Fantasy.

It can't be overstated that they are giving this new capability to ALL characters, even 1.0. Skylanders adds something new (like path switching and Wow Pow) and makes you buy a whole new version of it. Hats off to Disney for this!

But wait, why are we getting Donald and not Minnie, Daisy, or Goofy? Maybe we actually are?

With the brief listing of a Disney Classics 2.0 Starter pack, I wonder which characters will be included in that one. There was also a Classic playset listed which would allow people who bought the Marvel starter to get the classics stuff just like there was a separate Marvel Avengers playset (sans Thor because he was listed individually). So using that logic, Donald, Tinkerbell, Merida or Stitch would likely also be in the classics starter. So that would mean there are two unknown characters for the Classics Starter/Playset. My wild guess is that Donald is part of classics starter along with maybe Minnie and/or Pluto and/or Goofy since all those would qualify as "classics" in my book

Now after all the E3 dust has settled I gotta say I'm way more pumped for DI 2.0 than STT. I want ALL the marvel characters for DI and we'll probably just get the starter and a couple extra characters that look cool for STT. This is a huge shift for us as we have bought all the characters from the first three Skylander games.

I guess the E3 journalists weren't impressed either as Skylanders isn't nominated for anything:

One lingering question I have that I think is rather important has to do with the waves.

So we've heard Wave 1 is Marvel and Wave 2 is Disney. But does that mean we ONLY get Marvel stuff at launch and will have to wait for Maleficent, Merida, Disney Power Discs, Other leaked Disney Characters, and (hopefully) the Gravity Falls Play Set?

i never thought i would say this after being with activisions skylanders for 3 games. but activision stt looks like it is just more of the same old same, more boring gimmicks(traps will even not be useful for the next game) and even less gameplay than usual. journalists at e3 weren't impressed either as skylanders is not nominated for anything this year...

so im super excited now since disney are gonna brings the classics. the create mode and the online gameplay is even looking to be getting better(skylanders have none, that is just stupid).... as i see it disney is doing everything right with infinity 2.0. its going to be one awesome game

I still wonder if there are going to be more Marvel Figs/Playsets because Avengers and Spidey are going to be available at launch and then the Guardians of the Galaxy in Wave 2 (Supposedly November). You would have to think that there will be at the very least a wave 3 in early 2015 if not also a wave 4, so there's hope for some x-men love. Then they could weave in some more female characters other than Black Widow, Gamora and the White Tiger teamup disc.

^That's true, 20th Century Fox has the rights to the X-Men MOVIES, but are the X-Men allowed in Marvel-related video games....

Yes, but neither was done by Disney, was it? Marvel itself would own rights to all of it's own characters, while Disney would only have the stuff from Marvel Movie Studios, correct? Seeing as how there isn't an X-Men show or movie that Disney would own the rights to (that comes to mind at least), I wouldn't hold my breath.....

It's not a question as to if the characters are able to be used in video-games, rather if Disney has the rights to be able to use them.

Disney has the rights to everything but the movies. Fox owns the rights to X-men and Fantastic Four movies and Sony owns the rights to Spiderman movies. They can do TV shows if they wanted. The even own the merchandising rights to the x-men movies just not the movies themselves. Disney owns Marvel you know, not just Marvel studios.

I thought they did own Marvel as a whole... Anyway, you have to keep in mind that Disney Infinity is mostly a cash cow to promote Disney movies and shows. If they lack the rights to any currently made X-Men related shows/movies, then it is doubtful they would make a playset or have even toybox figures of characters from X-Men as there is not any specific movie or show for them to note the character as being from, and it is rather doubtful they would have just generic "X-Men". Listing them as "Marvel" seems doubtful as well seeing as how the Marvel characters are already divided into Avengers, Ultimate Spider-man, & Guardians of the Galaxy. At best, there might be a team-up disc with a couple of X-Men characters. There is a chance of them doing stuff for the recent release of Days of Future Past, though seeing as how Disney doesn't own the movie itself, why would they be interested in promoting it with figures in DI2?

It would be crazy for Disney to not make a Wolverine figure for DI 2.0 as he is one of the most popular Marvel characters. It wouldn't surprise me if they waited until wave 3+ because Disney is obviously trying to not give any pub to X-men since they don't have a great relationship with Fox like they do with Sony.

But they might do another Avenger type playset/wave with some of the non wave 1 characters from Avengers 2 like Scarlet Witch/Quicksilver/Vision/Hulkbuster Iron Man and maybe do an Ultron villain figure. They could also push some Ant Man stuff since that is the other Marvel movie for 2015.

They would do it to make money and sell figures, not to promote Fox's movie. We may not see an X-Men playset (though I would be sold right there if they did), but we may see figures like Wolverine. Wolverine is in everything when it comes to Marvel comics due to his popularity. So if Fox is doing a movie that increases the popularity of the X-Men, like they did with First Class and now Days, why wouldn't they want to cash in on that popularity and make some money themselves? You won't see a playset based on the movies, but you could see one based on the comics in general.

The more I think about it the more I think we'll see Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in some form in waves 3/4. It'll help get kids to know the characters better before Avengers 2 comes out. It wouldn't surprise me to see them also featured in either or both of the current animated series like they did with GotG last year.

I guess with the Daredevil netflix series coming in 2015 we could see him in some form as well.
