I've heard it was awful. I was planning on seeing it but now I'm not so sure.

'Nuff said.
If you want some giant robot goodness with actual plot and drama, try Transformers: Prime (much like Airbender it starts out a little kiddish but gets stunning by the third season) or Gundam Wing.

It's better than the first 3 and has good action and a decent plot(IMO)

Critics hated it because it is a Michael Bay film

May also be because of what Michael Bay did to the movie. It's usually fighting and explosions over story and plot. And also, anybody remember that chick who attempted to play Katara in The Last Airbender? Yeah, she's in this. I haven't seen this one yet, but I'v5e seen the others. Let's just say the bar isn't set very high. Aside from dinosaurs and replacing Shia "No no no no nonono" LaBeouf with Mark Wahlberg, I don't see what would make this one much better.

You want good Transformers? Watch Animated or Prime! They're both great deconstructions (and the latter gets some pretty stunning action sequences).

they changed the main dude and got rid of his girlfriend
that's enough for me to see it

apparently it's the script that sucks more than anything, which i'm not surprised about

Everyone has their own opinions. I've learned that with stuff like this the only way to truly find out if something is good or bad is to watch it, read it, whatever, yourself. People say it's terrible and you may find it to be your new favorite movie, so...

Imo its arguably the best transformers just because or dinobots and mark wahlberg/stanley tucci, but that isn't saying a lot. it still suffers from the rest of the cast doing terrible and most of the same problems the last films had, but they still step up the action and special effects.

I'd wait until you can get it on DVD or blu-ray because its just a mindless action film and nothing else. Save your money for something like dawn of the planet of the apes or guardians of the galaxy.

Nah, he was supposed to come into play in AOE but they thought if they put him in they're would be to many Autobots

As far as *deep breath* movies-with-great-action-and-effects-but-not-really-so-much-when-it-comes-to-plot go, my favorite is Advent Children Complete (the extended version of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children the movie).
The most glorious sword-fights to ever appear in a movie. Period.
Not to mention that final rendition of
One-Winged Angel
, in full choir, orchestra, and metal band all combined!

Back on topic, Season 3 of Prime didn't do characterization so much because everyone was already established. Still the best season I've seen of any Transformers show yet, in my opinion.

Best of the four films in my opinion. The lead actor being changed pretty much saved it.
I find it hard to dislike films.

Besides, the last Hobbit film comes out this December.

I haven't seen AoE yet, but the Transformers film series is arguably the biggest "guilty pleasures" I have, enjoying each and every one to some extent. If you can go for cheap I don't see the problem...

i know so many people obsessing over The Fault in our Stars, but it's not appealing to me at all

the only movie at the moment that i really want to see is How To Train Your Dragon 2.
