Who else is excited for this? :) I finally started playing the reboot one because of the announcement (and it is great).

I still haven't been able to play the first reboot one, though that one is available on Xbox 360, right? I might be able to convince my mom to buy it and play it together on hers since she and I both adore the first five PS1 Tomb Raiders (we lost interest quick in the PS2 ones we bought...) and have been interested in checking the reboot out.
Anyway, this one looks interesting. I'll definitely check it out after release and if I play and enjoy the first reboot. But is it only going to be on PS4? We don't plan on buying one of those so unless it gets released on Xbox 360 we won't be able to play it..

I think all the new Tomb Raider games will be on most consoles and definitely on PC (I played the 2013 reboot on my PC and I know it's for Xbox 360, too). While I really like the Legend/Anniversary/Underworld games, I find the reboot is quite a bit closer to the old PS1 Tomb Raider games in feel. There are very few games where I've 100% completed them, but I had so much fun exploring and collecting things in this one, that I managed it. :)

Oh right! I forgot all about PC. I have plenty of space on my hard drive so that would work - my mom doesn't seem to want to share her Xbox with me for it and my dad and brother definitely won't share theirs so I'm pretty desperate.
I'm glad to hear that the reboot is pretty close to the older games, and there's collectables too? :) I probably won't be able to afford it anytime soon but hopefully I can get it sooner than I think.

If you've got Steam, check for a summer sale. I think a friend got the deluxe edition for me at around $20 (maybe $15). It's totally worth it! And the collectibles don't really get you anything but concept art and bragging rights, but it was just legit fun to look for them and earn XP that way (for a change; usually I despise grinding). Once you start getting good at the strategy and shooting dudes in the head Katniss Everdeen style, it's sooooo fun. :)

I forgot all about Steam. I'll definitely check it out, thanks for mentioning it! Shame the collectibles don't do much but I'll go for them, kinda like the secrets from the first games!

Most of the collectibles do get you XP, which makes the game even more fun to play as you level up your skills. :)

I'm not really fond of the new Tomb Raider, the last decent game was Underworld in my opinion, and by looking at the trailer of this new one, it looks a bit pedictable.
Tomb Raider 2013 had way too much combat, and not enough tombs. You'd think there would be considering the name of the game. Maybe their will be in this newer one? Also looks like they've got an idea from Assassin's Creed from they she is portrayed, it's a bit pathetic to me in all honesty. |

It's been confirmed there will be more tombs in Rise of the Tomb Raider. I wasn't too big on the combat myself, but once you get the hang of it, it's not so bad, and coming back to areas where you killed all the dudebros to just explore is really fun.
You probably didn't mean it this way, but your comment comes off as very insensitive and offensive to people with PTSD (which is the key basis of the trailer). Not everyone wearing a hood is an Assassin's Creed knock off. |

The developers have decided to touch on these "touchy" sensitive subjects with the Tomb Raider game, so somebody is bound to bring them up, whether people like it or not, so I'm not exactly at fault here am I. And come on, it looks like they were doing an "Assassin's Creed" style on Lara, don't give me that crap. And once I got the hang of the poorly made combat system, I still thought it was nothing special. It didn't feel as satisfying as the previous games. The last game just didn't feel like Tomb Raider at all to me, it's like a cross between Silent Hill and Uncharted. |

Uh, hi. I have PTSD. I am telling you that what you said, specifically, came off as offensive whether you meant it to or not. Trying to pawn off blame for your actions to a company which (as far as I've seen in playing the game and watching the new trailer) has been handling this delicate subject excellently, does not make you look good or make you right. I have personally gone into therapy looking like Miss Croft, hood pulled up and all. Next you're going to say Jedi from Star Wars are an Assassin's Creed rip off.
So what are you doing in this topic if all you're here for is to whine and complain? Can you just take it to like minded people and let those of us who don't want to waste our lives complaining about stuff we could have just avoided if we didn't like it enjoy the game we actually like? |
