The people who went on his account should all get some sort of punishment. Nothing too major though.

Difference being that people do that for a living. Being unethical with that would get you arrested. Plus, I'm sure that shady people would get kicked out of the job interview in the blink of an eye. Your argument is invalid.

Guys, wrecking all and somePerson are right. Yes, Gnarly was an idiot and definitely had what was coming to him, but there was no need to take it as far as you guys did. If anything, you guys should have been the more mature ones and either didn't use his account, or use it to tell him to change it and nothing else. I get that's what some of you did, but the huge amounts of spam in the topic as well as others say otherwise for the select few users who took it WAY too far. And again, while Gnarly was stupid enough to post his own password, and did deserve whatever came his way, you people who spammed as him and deleted his stuff pretty much proved you're less mature than he was, when you should have really just warned him and nothing else.

What's 'not acceptable' is the fact the he was stupid enough to post his password on a PUBLIC forum, he's lucky enough that a guest didn't change his password.

We pretty much only spammed one topic and posted in a couple more. I don't know who did the major stuff but it certainly wasn't the majority.

and I do get that, but I still had to point it out to the people who took it too far. I didn't see the whole thing yet, only parts of the topic, so I don't know yet who's all to blame.

again, regardless of ANYTHING you people would've done on his account, you shouldn't have done it in the first place. Like I said, that just proves less mature than he was. And like wreckingball said, both are not smart things to do, but hacking into the account and taking advantage of the situation is worse.

the main reason I stayed on dS for four years wasn't just because I loved tLoS and some of the classic Spyro games, but because the community was so much better, nicer, and sociable than most other forums I went onto. Like any website, there's bound to be some form of chaos every now and then, but it happens least on this site. And it usually only happens in this section of the forum. But what happened here is one of the most chaotic, crazy, and unacceptable things I've ever seen in my four years on this site. And while I haven't seen EVERYTHING that has happened on this site, saying something like this after four years of being on the site is saying a hell of a lot.

But you have to remember that Gnarly isn't that smart when it comes to what you should and shouldn't post online. If we told him to change his password without using his account, would he change it? Probably not. In a way, it was kind of a good thing that we used his account, because it showed him what could happen if you post your password online. It was mean, I'll admit it, but I hope it taught him a lesson.

alright, fair point. Though while it's still unacceptable, I was mainly aiming this at the people who took even more advantage of this than you guys did. Hopefully Gnarly did learn his lesson about this AND posting personal info. If he doesn't then he's best off getting ripto'd before he gets himself into trouble.

this is a nice website, and thankfully most people were smart enough to not hack the account (or at least did it just to say 'change your password' and nothing else). But it kills me that this community would still take it as far as they did what with deleting his stuff. Though I unfortunately still expected it to happen in some way. This is the internet after all. :/

I've also been on this site for four years, and I can say that I've seen more extreme things have happened during my time here.

yeah, from the aftermaths I've seen in sure there have been. But out of the things that I'VE seen, this is one of the most extreme. I didn't really start going on S&N frequently until late last year, and anything that had happened before then I was either too young to care or never knew about it.
