Given that the original game had 4 that were all exclusive to an expansion pack, why would I?

The only thing that makes since to me is since there is no other variant (LightCore/Legendary/In-Game/Chase) of PopThorn or WindUp, they sell the individual for those that want to get a second one for the other upgrade path without having to buy the Battle/Expansion pack.

I don't get it either. I know some collect packaged figures and that's their thing so this is interesting to them. But, to everyone else and the vast majority of players a single Pop Thorn is a waste. If you have been watching, Tower of Time pack has gone on sale, many times over the past year and as this year's Skylanders are winding down it is still very, very common - which means as Trap Team grows closer we will probably see even better clearance sales, negating the value of just getting a single and skipping the meaty extra level and the hands-down best item for money collection.

Maybe you might want a second one for upgrade path, but just reset and do it again. It isn't that hard or time consuming to experiment, and you get to enjoy the game while you do so. Not really keen on the idea of having a stable of duplicates who's sole purpose is to avoid me having to play the game and level them up (which is sort of the whole point of the game). I get bored with a character when they are maxxed out.

A single Wind Up is a little more understandable given Sheep Wreck never really hit in big numbers (likely due to Tower of Time sitting on shelves in great numbers) - but you can find it if you need to, although sales might be a little less common on those.

I would think that Hot Dog must have sold well on his own pack so they decided to sell both Adventure Pack characters as singles. It was probably done so that #1, they can make extra money from collectors/parents who didnt get the more expensive adventure pack just for one character and #2, to fill out the final wave. (which basically just had what..like Punk Shock in it?)

The difference I see though is that a Battle Pack doesn't also unlock a story level, it just gives you arena stuff - and forces you to get a repose. The Sky Diamond is incredibly useful to boot. And if the price is the problem, then wait for a sale instead. You can probably find it half off if you are patient, and let's face it - if you don't have Pop Thorn yet you are already pretty darn patient for him.

A single pack is attractive to a very small minority of collectors, or people that are just flat out unaware. I guess it is nice that the option is available now, though - for whatever reason people may have.

It's definitely great for kids & the parents buying them. Kids want the characters, but many parents would much rather spend $10 than $25. They don't understand all the other stuff. They just see that they have to pay $25 for the character their kid wants. On top of that, there are kids that use their allowance money. This may be more attractive to them, since they don't have as much money to spend.

Lots of reasons for the singles...none of them bad. I mean, after churning out 3 diffrerent countdowns, grim creepers and 3 ways to buy terrafin, this almost feels right.

What's missing here is a single of S2 Camo. But that would make sense, so therefore it Won't happen. I'm still disappointed with the lack of a paint job on the back.

While I was skeptical about this, I think this is quite clever. When the Adventure Packs disappear, and now have a chance of still existing in the future and won't end up like poor . Speaking of which, this is what they should have done for instead of making him vanish from existence for those who don't have him.

it's another way for them to make money like last year with giants in how to take characters they have available one way but another way to make as much as they can like gnarly. considering wind up ended up at gamestop, jade at walmart and kickoff started at toys r us, it makes sense target got the single pop thorn.

Holy! Normally when people post about trying to find the "best painted" version of a guy I'm indifferent. Obviously there have been some really sloppy ones that get released...but this entices me to purchase another Popthorn! I just wouldn't want to build him up again and complete all the quests.

Funny thing is I had a dream I bought one of these the night before this topic was made.

I was just at target and I didn't see any singles of pop thorn, not that I need it though.

Target says Street Date is July 1st. Went today and nothing.

But more to your point, Canada often gets some of these one-off exclusives a week or two (sometimes more - Legendary Stealth Elf, for example) before the US.

Yeah Canada got more earlier releases it seems with Swap Force. I found Pop Thorn in single pack at Target in Quebec City, on June 27th.
