EDIT: There were WAY too many hackers in this tournament. It wasnt frantic and there were about 4 lightning bolts per race. and while i was spectating, i saw someone had a red shell and it transformed into a bomb. and he was in first and a spiny shell hit him and didnt affect him. This one wasnt that good... Id rate it 2/5 stars.

I didn't think the game had been hacked like that yet. The only trick I know of is the "Flame Hop," where you can hop repeatedly during a Mini-Turbo to extend its length. But I did have some pretty bad item luck. And it all started when I got a communication error in the middle of a race I was doing very well in. The problem is that I always seem to get put in a hole in EVERY race and need to try to climb out of it. I almost always get a coin from the first item block and then proceed to get hit by 2 or 3 items from other players, which always drops me to 9th or worse. So I have to play catch up. XP

Just as an FYI, Fire Hopping works with any kind of turbo boost, be it drifting related, Mushroom related, or a boost pad. However, attempting it on awkwardly angled terrain will slow you down.

Cheats haven't been implemented yet. What you're experiencing is connection lag. That Red Shell went to a Bomb is he was using a Crazy 8, as it spins around.

Yeah, latency issues in MK8 translate to weird stuff happening rather than actually getting input lag or slow down. Really crazy things can happen.

Actually, the Blue Shell issue is something inherrent to the game, I've had it happen in single player. Blue Shells aren't very good at changing targets in this game, if you end up in second place less than about three seconds before the Blue Shell reaches you, it will still hit you and not target the person who passed you.

Also, if the Blue Shell targets someone who's in first, and that person finishes the race, it will switch to targeting the person in second unless the person in first crosses the finish line RIGHT as the Blue Shell reaches them.

I had an instance yesterday on Toad Harbor where I was in 1st and the Blue Shell hit me as if it was going to target someone else. I was then passed by another player but the Blue Shell returned for the explosion. To really rub salt in the wound, I finished a second in front of someone else, and the game swapped our placed in the results. @.@

Also, I never realized how hilarious Waluigi's trick animations are. He definitely got the best ones for this game. XP

So I had this glitch on Moo Moo Meadows in 2 player. The blue shell that would've hit me after I passed the finish line just went round and round and round the track. The lap after the final, cause I was still watching.. It, in particular, came and motioned to hit me, but then vanished.

What are some good kart combinations? Im having some trouble finding a good one.

It's just what I like, because it's fairly well rounded between speed acceleration and traction, and handling/weight doesn't affect me much.

Meh, for some reason, I just cannot for the life of me get the hang of the inside drifting in this game. Which seems to be a big issue, because all the players who win in the rooms I end up in are using inside drifting bikes. ...Or I'm just REALLY bad at the game. <.>

I'm able to use it but I don't use inside drifting bikes much, I only use Karts and Quads really. RosalinaxSports Bike seems like it may objectively be the most popular combo online though, I see it all of the time.

I loved Outside drift in MKDS, and inside in MKW
In this one, it seems that I prefer inside.

Yeah.. I tried it out and i liked it. I did very good with the combo. Im not sure what character type you used, but i used a medium character so the handling was pretty good. I like how when you drift, yoshi's hands on the bike spread out left or right. Thanks so much for the help!

Why dont you use the standard bike because it is outside drifting or you could find a good kart or atv? heres a video showing standard bike being outside drifting.

I've used multiple characters with it, none lighter than Yoshi.

I have a relatively decent combo with Waluigi and the Gold Standard/Azure Roller/Wario Wing or Wario with the same combination, only using the Cloud Glider. It just seems like even when I have a "good race," there's a pair of players miles ahead of me. Ah well. I knew my (lack of) gaming ability was bound to start collapsing soon, I had just hoped I still had some good years in me. XP

I use any character, Biddybuggy, Roller, Cloud. It's AMAZING.

I use the Jet Bike, Slim Wheels, with any Gliders that do not have the stats of the Super Glider. It works good with a Light Weight, but it is even better with a Standard Weight, which is what my Mii is. I can drift all the time in that!

I use Waluigi with The Duke, Cyber Slick wheels, and the Wario Wing. Not only does it match Waluigi, but it works really good too!

Ludwug in the Duke, with any wheels and any glider, baby!

In my most recent games online, I seem to find that Rosalina with Circuit Special, Azure Rollers, and Cloud Glider or MKTV Parafoil works best for me.

The combination I use depends on the room. If I go to a custom 150 cc + Frantic Mode Items room, I tend to lean on a combination with 3 acceleration and 4+ speed. If I'm just in the normal worldwide rooms, I don't care as much about acceleration. I stick to the 3 heavy classes though. I get abused if I try to play as Yoshi or someone lighter. @.@

Just in case you aren't aware of how it happened, Super Mushrooms have always made dodging Blue Shells possible in past games and MK8 is no exception, but the timing is incredibly precise. You nailed it there though, one of the funniest highlights I've seen.

No, I'm well aware of it, but could never get the timing in past Mario Karts. Although that was the second consecutive race I did that on (thank you based frantic items). I just thought the timing with the trick was too dang hilarious. I seriously think Waluigi has the best lines and animations in the game. XP

They do at least in MK7. You just have to complete a Grand Prix after reaching the coin goal before the thing is unlocked. Don't have MK8 to check if this carried over though.
