We will see him available for sale soon enough, and he won't be hard to find judging from quantities reported by those that have seen him. Even with some buying them five at a time. I still see Enchanted Star Strike from time to time (saw four just last Friday) and she came out in much smaller quantities at ONE store. Kickoff Countdown occupies 4 FULL pegs the last time I was in TRU, a couple weeks after release. Don't go crazy and be impatient and get it off EBay or try to talk a low paid Walmart worker into losing their job by selling it to you. It isn't worth it. In two weeks you'll probably regret the effort and/or cost if you do.

It's really stupid that folks are putting them out and they have a register lock. When does the lock get removed?

Sounds like poor planning again.

Target has been absolutely pathetic this year with maintaining street dates on anything Skylanders to the point of laughable. Walmarts have been hit or miss. Toys R Us has been the only reliable brick and mortar store regarding Swap Force stuff and following dates.

Are you kidding? Every dated-release at every single retailer has had issues with folks finding them on shelves early, then getting turned down at the register.

Its weird that they'd leave that whole stack of JFK sitting on the shelf this late into the game. When I found Jolly Bumble Blast at Target before the street date, the cashier was like "Oops". And got on the walkie to take all the rest off the pegs.

#68 Posted: 05:09:31 11/06/2014
Well, I agree all retailers have problems with street dates, but YMMV applies as well. My TRU has their stuff together, and they've been helpful. As a result 99.9% of my Swap Force purchases have been there, even with the $1 hike. I've made up for it with the BOGO and other sales. My TRU knows how to read and follow instructions, so I guess that's above average for retail companies. I think we can all say WalMart is up there with some of the worst.

And you want an internet cookie? Your acting like what I said was a personal slight against you.

Everything has an exception. Mileage may vary. I was speaking from personal experience this go round and my circle of friends involved in finding figures. Every non-TRU exclusive or release this year, I've found put out early and breaking street dates. My TRU has been running a tight ship with street dates on everything. Gotten 90% of my stuff from them this year because of it. I havent had to fight or hunt for anything.

Totally agreed on TRU. They've wiped the floor on the competition in terms of availability, sales etc this year. I guess being a specialized retailer helps. I think my only Best Buy purchase this year was for the Full Metal Sprocket variant.

Seriously though - I haven't had much issue with any retailers for SWAP Force, outside of a few isolated issues at launch.

It's nice that your local TRU has been dependable with your idea of what releases should be - but your initial statement wasn't "My TRU has done better..." - it was a general statement that, based off of what I've read over and over on this forum, simply didn't apply.

Something to keep in mind though - very few Skylanders figures have actually been street dated from Activision. Just because some stores put them out "early", they're not breaking a street date.

You know what the best part about all of this is?

Because Quote: UncleBob
JFK isn't exclusive.
, if you don't like any particular retailer, you don't have to go to that retailer to get him. If you like Toys R Us, go to Toys R Us. If you like Walmart, go to Walmart. If you like Target, go to Target.

It's great, really. Works out best for everyone without having to dwell on the negatives. Unless you just want to.

Interesting. Just saw a box of JFK's. Boxes are marked with a bright orange street date... October 13th, 2013.

Seems silly to complain about retailers "breaking street date" when the publisher doesn't have their stuff together.

Not unusual, same thing happened with stuff like ESK and so forth yet we couldn't sell them through the register. Activision's a little odd about their dates.

For the record, we haven't gotten any in Malone, NY. Or Kickoff Countdowns for that matter.

Very curious. If there's no accurate street date, then I wonder what date the computers are internally set for? Or is this a terribly inconvenient bug? Either way, I'm keeping an eye out at my local stores.

I have been to 3 different Walmarts in Washington state and they are saying there is a date lock but the system won't give the actual date. What the consensus of the managers is, is that they are going through a total reboot of their electronics departments and that should be completed on next Tuesday the 17th.

Basically what I'm reading here is that some people have found him, but looking is wasted effort because most places won't sell him anyway.

I'm also floored, frankly, that the figure isn't a Target exclusive. Jade Flashwing, I thought, set the precedent for Target, but I guess not. At least it will be easier to get now that it isn't a store exclusive.

Eh, don't think I've been this disinterested in a new variant figure release in quite some time. All of the variants this year have been less an effort in finding them and more of an effort in simply waiting until XXX date, then they sit on shelves untouched for weeks or months.

Fire Kraken is my favorite figure design, and Jade looks great. I'll get it when it comes out, it's the last one for this year. Might be Walmart, might not be - wherever it comes, so be it. Maybe it has something to do with me cooling on it all due to Trap Team being underwhelming, maybe it is simply because it's just a variant and will add nothing new to the game for me, maybe just because I have so many anyways.

If they want to keep the street date a mystery, I'm fine with that - although it is probably pretty frustrating to the employees to be shipped figures and not be given any information about when to put them out - and then have to deal with explaining it to customers.

This information is incorrect. Kickoff Countdown is not street dated (well, according to the box, he's street dated for 10/13/2013), nor is he register locked. Currently, he is eligible for sale upon arrival and stocking.

Anyone can go to the electronics dept. at Walmart and ask to see the new movie, dvd release list.
On there you'll see the skylanders listed.

And I'm telling you it is not.

If you saw that list (which I'm sure you did - not doubting you), I'm curious - did you not notice the item listed right above JFK? That one seems like it would have been much more interesting to post.

Anyway, please refer back to that list. Dates in the first column are projected ship dates. Dates in the second are Street Dates. Look in the second column, then come back and tell me what the Street Dates are again.

Also, I hope stores aren't keeping these print outs at the register and showing them to anyone who asks. They clearly say "Confidential" on the bottom and that'd be a bad thing for someone to be letting just anyone look at.
