So I was preordering gear shift at GameStop today and was asked if I wanted to preorder wind up. Supposedly it's in their system and is coming out here in Canada on June 21. I'm wondering if maybe this is the VVind up from the games coding. Anyone else hear anything?

It could be that, or the supposed Single Pack version of him.


We have yet to hear about an actual Punk Shock single pack (not the Easter one), so she can't be far behind.

Ya I was wondering when that single package of punk was coming. I figure there prob one last wave assortment.

It's possible the employee is confused or Activision is actually getting smart and making separate SKUs for retailers like DI. I know even a character like Kickoff Countdown still just has a generic SKU, at EB Games (aka Gamestop) it comes up as just another standard character. That's the reason they haven't taken preorders for specific characters in the past yet with DI you can preorder any character you want without any issues. I know my local EB Games will take preorders for Skylanders when the game first comes out but they only guarantee that if you preorder a core character you will get a core character not necessarily the one you want. Hopefully they have started to get unique SKUs so preordering what you want will be pain free.

She specifically said it was a preorder for wind up. I don't know why there would be a preorder for just the regular one though, not true to activisions form. That's why I think it may be the special one

This has actually happened recently with some retailers. They scanned each individual DCPI code and put them in as individual products.

Every Skylander (aside from some of the chase variants) has its own, unique UPC that is tied to that figure. How different retailers enter those numbers into their system is completely up to those retailers.

I work for a small used media chain, and we have individual codes for all of the Swap Force series in our system, even ones that have yet to get single releases. The ones on the current ones match the barcodes printed on the packaging, so I'd assume they come directly from the manufacturer. Dunno if they just call dibs on codes just IN CASE they plan on releasing individual characters or what.

Yep and most places just give them all the same store code etc. I think with Disney each figure comes in it's own box or each box is a set amount unlike skylanders that comes in random waves etc. Someone that knows how disney packages there stuff might be able to give more info on how they run.

It doesn't say its a character like it did for gear shift, so i had no idea what it meant. but its priced at $9.99, but i assume it is a pre order for that specific character, since it does say his name for sure.

I wonder if gamestop is getting some sort of promotional "only at gamestop" single variant of wind-up like best buys sprocket this year. Would make use of that code etc, wouldnt?
