why English spelling is so because for most of history, only the very privilege knew how to rite words. for example knight, and knife. the K is silent, but if olden English they pronounced the K. over time people stop saying the k but the spelling of the word stayed the same.

English is also hard because it's a hybrid of many languages. and each langues have different rules on how the structure of words and sentences forum.
