Why do you think they do what they do? Is it the anonymity? If so, why waste time spouting nonsense? What satisfaction does it leave them? I've always thought that trolling can be classified into several categories. Some people are just impulsive and rude, some people have a grudge against a certain fandom/site, some people want to feel powerful, some people can't communicate properly . . . The list goes on. I've never really been a troll, nor have I purposefully caused a kerfuffle. Has anyone here ever been on either side of the troll/victim spectrum?

Because if others do it, trolling makes me look cool.

That makes sense. Personally, I don't like to upset people, unless I feel like they deserve it.

It's a hair thing.

There can be a bucket of reasons, really. From feeling bad about yourself or just being a dick for fun.

As a former troll myself, I can definitely say that at least 90% of it is out of true boredom. The other 10% is a mixture of wanting to piss people off, prove a point, or just generally stir up trouble.

They just want to have fun!

I may not necessarily be a troll, but I know that at least few people do it to start some pointless rebellion against such a thing. Like Loco. He would not really care what you say and try to go off topic (towards your comment) to have things his way. He also spews tons of nonsense without any actual evidence of such, and believes that the Spyro forum is a good source that supports his nonsense. :/ So basically what I bolded.
