Trap Team Strategy Guide

The strategy guides have always been by Brady Games for Skylanders. This shows that the Trap Team guide will be by Pearson Education. I never heard of them. Has anyone heard of them or used guides from them?

Edit: No other strategy guide publisher can boast the distribution power of BradyGames. As part of the Pearson Education global network of companies, BradyGames can guarantee maximum market penetration – domestically and worldwide. From bookstores to mass-market retailers to a growing Internet presence, BradyGames distribution is second to none in securing broad-scale placement of our guides.

It's possible and very likely, but just look at what they did to Stink Bomb. They used him in all of the ads and previews for Swap Force, but they ended up holding him until Wave 3, if I remember correctly.

The last strategy guide was lazy, and I expect more of the same.

That's from the BradyGames website. It's basically saying that BradyGames is part of Pearson Education. This is probably why GameStop labeled that as the publisher instead of BradyGames.

So I realize that this is an old-ish thread, but I don't really want to create a new one.

Amazon decided to ship out the Brady Games, Signature Series, Trap Team Strategy Guides early as I just got mine today. The cover is not like any of the ones above. It's like this:

[User Posted Image]
(click through for larger version)

Looking through the guide - disappointment reigns I am afraid. It's not finished. Only the first two adventure packs are included (it talks about four being released), no new elements or new element figures are listed. It does have some of this spoiler stuff that I am going to list below though in it....

SUPER SPOILERS BELOW! DO NOT READ IF WAITING FOR GAMEPLAY SURPRISES!!:

18 chapters in story mode
47 total achievements, only 46 achievable on most consoles (47th is PS3 specific)
6 listed Arenas, each with 4 matches. I bet more unlock that are not listed.
Kaos Doom Challenges, 100 waves of enemies to survive separated in 9 groups of Challenges. 50 Kaos mode stars to get
37 total skystones on the Skystones Checklist
19 Legendary Treasures
The "hub" is called Skylanders Academy
The 18th story mode level is called "The Ultimate Weapon" and the very last thing you do is beat Kaos and capture him with your Kaos trap.

The best I guess I can hope for is that I do have the code for the electronic version of the guide and maybe that will get updated with more info after the game actually comes out.

^Oh here come the "please post"... posts. Sigh.

The lack of completeness might speak to the "crunch time" we all suspect was happening as the game was evolving at every trade show preview. Then again, these guides are becoming amazingly useless, and is costing more. I guess the market is speaking that quality reigns supreme--or that the free ones released by fans provide more value at a great cost point. smilie

The lack of completeness is only because they want to keep the Light and Dark stuff secret. Stop being a negative nancy.

I'd argue that they didn't cover a number of other areas. And, as I've explained before...why have a product that is incomplete? Clearly the "reveal" was spoiled. For $25 I'd expect a COMPLETE guide. And I'm a contrarian.

Unless you have proof that some areas weren't covered, I won't believe it. The only ones missing are the other two Adventure Packs, which coincide with the new elements.

Incomplete guide is incomplete. The fact there is even a collectors edition of the guide not being complete is farcical.

I don't think I've ever seen a printed game guide that has been complete, at least for games i play.
i've gotten all the pokemon ones since r/b/y, they recently have split it between 2 versions, pre-elite 4 and post-elite 4, and still miss quite a bit.
I got the DI 1.0 one, it was missing toy story playset.
Zelda has always left out the last few levels.

with so much available online nowadays, i would have thought the direction they would go would be to include more stuff, or stuff that is unique to the guides, rather than leave out "spoilerey stuff".

that said though, i will still likely get the book when i eventually see it here, i have the other 3, and mainly get them for the character info and upgrade stuff, rather than as a walkthrough.

Lol You're not alone; it's not the age, it's the mileage. Also, the 80's rocked.

Even guidebooks for Bethesda games, which are often simply interesting to read, miss a few details here and there. The era of perfect printed guides died with Versus Books.
