The saddest books I've read are: the whole Hunger Games trilogy, Where the Red Fern Grows, Bridge to Terabithia, the Warriors series; there are more that I can't think of yet.

What are the saddest books you have read?

Seriously this. It upset me so much I felt physically sick, I thought I was going to puke.

Also The Maze Runner made me cry like a baby.

The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

And not really a book but a short story that I cannot remember its name. It was about a father who couldn't read and how he tries his best to care for and impress his son, but his inability to read often causes his plans to fail and embarrasses himself. It ends with his son being told his father has died from a heart attack, which leads him to discover an intact bottle of medication for his father's heart with a child lock lid and a label saying "push down and twist to open."

I think The Book Thief is the only book that has ever really made me cry. Crying is an understatement, actually.
Umm, Night was rather sad. The Fault In Our Stars was, too.

I dont read much and most of what I have isnt sad, I do want to read the Book Thief and Bridge to Terabithia, two of the saddest movies Ive ever seen(saddest ever being the Book Thief, Ive never almost cry as much as watching that ;-smilie. The Hobbit was actually pretty sad and reading it I was blinking real hard, same for LOTR.

Hmm

A Separate Peace is one of the only books I can think of that's ever managed to make me cry but it's also one of my favorite books ever written ovo

In my opinion My Sister Jodie is a sad book, as is The Illustrated Mum (although I find many of Jacqueline Wilson's books to be rather depressing)

The last book of the Alex Rider series is kinda depressing, but it's really unexpected.
