Hello everyone,

I was hoping I could get some advice from fellow members. A variant I purchased off eBay just arrived, and I was very sad to see the seller bent the cardboard to cram it in the (clearly too small) box in which it was shipped. I have not had to deal with this kind of thing before - have been happy with purchases up till now. Anyways, I wanted to get some feedback from people with similar experiences/advice before I contact the seller and leave feedback.
Many thanks

Open a case here. http://resolutioncenter.ebay.com/ Describe what the problem is. Give the seller a chance to make it right.

Yep, sellers aren't mind readers. If you don't want this happening to you again assume the seller will do everything wrong and barrage them with questions prior to bidding. If they can't be bothered to make you feel comfortable then don't bid.

Depending on the rarity of the variant and what you paid for it you need to decide if you want to a) suck it up and just deal with the messed up box or b) return the item and try your luck elsewhere. Occasionally a seller may offer a partial refund for an issue like this, but in my experience it is usually a pretty small amount, and that doesn't really address the bent box issue. Once you know what you want to do, reach out to the seller and tell them your issue and see what they offer to make the situation right. Even if they try and refuse to let you return, eBay would almost definitely side with you in a case to return for refund something that was poorly shipped (although you may be out a few bucks on shipping)

You're assuming he uses the product. Lots of people keep them in the box.

Thanks everyone,

The figure was a flocked Springtime Trigger Happy, and since I am Canadian, the only way to get him is via eBay. With the rare figs, I do play with them but leave them in the box. And if I was planning to open it, I would have bid on a cheaper listing that had damaged box issues. But when the seller lists as mint and shows pics of cardboard in pristine condition, then that is what I should get, no?

Anyways, thanks for the advice-- as mentioned before, I just wanted to hear some feedback before contacting the seller.
Cheers,
Arenne

^I agree. Bad form to advertise it one way and to have it arrive in another. It's even worse when there's clear intent based on shipping practices.

You can still use the toys in the game when they're in the box.

Yeah, you can use them all in the box, but you cannot swap the swappers, kind of the whole point to them smilie

Honestly they are actually pretty fun to play with, part of the fun is being able to make mutant abominations this year smilie We were using Flame Rise last night and he is pretty freakin' weird. The magnets were really well done, so much better than the new "innovation" for game four.

That's not the point. Who are you to say what people do with stuff they buy. Would you buy a new car, and then when they went to drive the car up, ding the front. It's ok, you're going to use it. Stupid point, but a buyer should always expect a product to be received as advertised. That's the point. Get it?

I have both open and boxed skylanders, and I hold sellers to the fire if they advertise it as "collector quality" and they mail it in a bubble mailer.

I agree, if you sell it as packaged not all bent and dinged up, it needs to come like that. The only possible excuse is if the shipper mangled the box despite your best efforts to protect it - in which case the shipper is on the hook for the damage.

If you're selling a variant, then you know you are more than likely selling to someone who is a collector and doesn't plan on opening it. If they were just advertising it as a SpringTime Trigger Happy (and not promoting the flocked variant), then it is possible it was someone who got it for their kids and didn't realize the difference and decided to just sell it. But I seriously doubt that was the case.
