how did you make the lava it looks amazing

Glue. I carved small trenches where I wanted the glue to run and then poured the glue. I let the glue sit for a day so it formed a skin. I painted the skin red, then highlighted with orange and then yellow. The trick is to highlight in lines where the lava runs and swirls where the lava pools.

@thunder1648. I did not want to affix the islands to a wall, at that point I couldn't create any depth, so it would be the same as sitting them on a shelf. Each island has its own stand, the stands are not affixed to the table. So its pretty future proof from the standpoint that I can move the islands around into different configurations, or accross multiple tables if need be. I had hoped for telescoping stands so that I could adjust the heights, but I couldnt get that to work.

very true. i see your point there for the depth of view. I was just meaning that most peoples wall are pretty decent size so you could put them there and if you used the same spacing between screw mounts you could in theory place them in different locations on the wall as well. I do really like it though. Do they stay pretty sturdy without being mounted to the table. I know the foam and pedestal don't weigh that much but doesn't the figures make it wobbly. What I mean is if you have a swapper on one side and you take him off does the weigh of the figures make it fall to the other side?

Larger islands have a larger diameter base. I dont have any problems with bases tipng over when I move figures on or off the islands. The acrylic circles are also pretty heavy. I stack them to create a design and also weight the base so the display is not top heavy.

The brackets are a good idea and may work for people with less space to work with. I wanted to keep it as 3d as possible tho. I'm sure it will come across better once ai create a background on the blue surfaces.

It be awesome if you could write a small tutorial of how you made the stands and the bases. Ive had too much spare time lately.

I'm going to be working on a new fire display for a friend pretty soon. I will post the WIP pics and some general guidelines if that would be helpful.

For the stone walkway on the undead island, did you cut the slots or is that just a really good paint job to represent the groves between the rocks.

I carved the grooves to create the walkway.

Ok, wasn't sure. you have such great detail in the paint job elsewhere so I couldn't tell if it was carved out or just painted.

For me, its way easier to paint a 3D surface than 2D. If I can create the actual 3D feature I will. That's probly why I've procrastinated painting the background...

That's so awesome. All I have is my Skylanders Spyro's Adventure case that I got when the game came out, I'm just too lazy to do anything cool like that. Also, I love how Bash and Flashwing are on their own separate island, which you'll understand if you read Flashwing's backstory.
