Now that the new game will be arriving this October 5th, who do you think will be returning for Series 2, 3, and 4? We already know that Gill Grunt and Shroomboom are coming back. But who else are making their reappearance as well? My guess would be as followed:
Magic - Spyro and Pop Fizz
Tech - Trigger Happy and Boomer
Earth - Dino-Rang and Flashwing
Air - Sonic Boom and Warnado
Fire - Eruptor and Flameslinger
Water - Gill Grunt and Slam Bam
Life - Shroomboom and Zook
Undead - Fright Rider and Ghost Roaster

I do hope they follow the Swap Force trend and model reposes after variants. I know they're not variants; all I'm saying is that names and outfits like Blizzard Chill and Ninja Stealth Elf were better than just S2 Stealth Elf, S2 Eruptor, etc.

So far I think s4 is pretty tamed and we may see a s4 Trigger Happy, but as long as Ghost Roaster, Voodood, Boomer, Wham Shell and the others get a s2, I ok with that.

I don't have a problem with reposes, but they REALLY need to focus on the reposing characters who don't have a wow pow copy yet. Having your main characters (spyro, gill, trigger) is fine I suppose, but I'd rather get a beefed up Ghost Roaster and Wham Shell versus yet another Eruptor.
And this is an adult speaking, ya know, the guy with the money.

Same here. So true. It's easy to say they're not listening to fans about who to repose, especially in the cases of Stealth Elf and Eruptor, but I suspect Wham-Shell squeaked into that Swap Force LightCore spot on the back of fan inquiries and requests, possibly furthered by his rarity in S:SA.

I heard the trailer say there were OVER 60 new Skylanders. Whether it is a multiple of eight seems to be in debate around here. But regardless, there very well could be three sets of reposes this time around. I won't bet any money on it, just wanted to say it is possible. So, here are my thoughts on what I know, believe and hope to be true under the assumption that we'll get one of each series...
Magic: Spyro, Pop Fizz, Star Strike Undead: Chop Chop, Hex, Grim Creeper Life: Stealth Elf, Stump Smash, Shroomboom Water: Gill Grunt, Slam Bam, Punk Shock Fire: Eruptor, Ignitor, Smolderdash Air: Whirlwind, Vet-Vac, Warnado Earth: Prismbreak, Bash, Scorp Tech: Trigger Happy, Drobot, Boomer |

Disagree. You are looking at this from strictly a "I have the older games" position. They have to let people have a jumping on point, and packaging "new" figures with old figures would be bad for all. Better to have a slightly modified version. There are ways around most of the reposes. Just gotta use them. And with wow pows, if like to see them repose all the older figs. Light core is the nonsense I could personally do without, and will probably skip all lightcore figs that don't look amazing this next round.

It's a good idea to keep older characters in circulation, but they should focus on making it so most characters are available within the most recent two games or so.

As a math guy I like to look for patterns, and I am quite impressed by the fairly balanced nature that the developers have used with most aspects of making characters. Here is something I noticed. Going from Giants to Swap Force we had 40 core characters that could be reposed. Of them, 24 had already gotten Series 2 releases and 16 only had Series 1 releases. That just happens to be a 9:6 ratio and since they do all figures in multiples of 8 it seems they went with the very close 10:6 ratio when making Series 3 and Series 2 for Swap Force. Now going into Trap Team we have 56 core characters available for reposing. Of them, 26 are at Series 1, 20 are at Series 2 and 10 are at Series 3. That is a 13:10:5 ratio, and I am very much in the camp that we are going to be seeing more characters than ever. I am thinking we will see 32 (or 34?) new characters and 24ish reposes. However many reposes we get (22,23,24) I am betting they will be as close to the 13:10:5 ratio as possible.

Not that I would buy them all as I don't care much for reposes but my choice would be : Magic - Voodood & Pop Fizz Tech - Boomer & Drobot Earth - Dino-Rang & Flashwing Air - Pop Thorn & Lghtning Rod Fire - Fryno & Smolderdash (They are both too good not too bring back) Water - Slam Bam & Wham Shell Life - Camo & Zoo Lou Undead - Ghost Roaster & Roller Brawl (Please note I am aware Grunty and the mushroom are back, this is just if I got to pick).

Between eBay and the the fact that MANY Giants and SSA figures are widely available at retail and I'm still scratching my head why reposes are needed. Sure, it's their franchise. But I'm pretty sure if we saw a chart of sales on the reposes they would be going down down down. Stands to reason since quantities of reposes were SEVERELY constrained...they know the gig is up.

I'd love to see Ghost Roaster and Boomer get a repose. Not the crappy Lightcore treatment that Wham Shell and Warnado got, but an actual Series 2 (well in their case they would just be named as a Series 4 regardless). I want the path switching and the Wow Pow for both. I've used them regularly in Giants and again in Swap Force (though GR didn't see much play time until recent). Since I enjoy using them so much, I'd love the S2 treatment that they both deserve.
I'd be willing to buy a S2 beyond those two if I particularly liked the character, though I have to say I may pass on the Shroomboom one (Yes, I get that some like him but the character is just not for me). I'd enjoy seeing Pop Thorn, Star Strike, Dune Bug or Scorp again. Any Series 3 or 4 would have to be a character that I like and have a really good Wow Pow. I want to see a Spyro (and clearly we'll see him along with Gill and Trigger again). I'd be ok with S4 Bash since his S2 is impossible to find, as well as Sunburn and Voodood, and probably another Camo (though we already got a repose with wow pow in SF). I'd be ok with another Chop Chop and Prism Break if the Wow Pows are good. I'd like to see Pop Fizz with a better Wow Pow. I'm not sure who else from Giants I'd like to see as a S3.
