Keep it to yourself,it's not going to come out any sooner with these threads.
Send emails to Acti if you're so impatient, they won't do it themselves right now just because you're sitting here waiting.

Not happening. They used Spyro as a marketing tool for Skylanders and no longer see much profit or use in keeping him around.
You're more likely to see a Crash game, and even that's pushing it. |

Someone on another forum actually said they think they saw like, a Skeleton Spyro in the Trap Team reveal trailer. Like, it looked like it was a playable character.
He truly is dead now.

Assuming things is FUN,amrite?
Funny Bone has nothing to do with Spyro, he's just the new dog 'lander. Spyro can get a Series 4 toy like Gill Grunt will, but all his 3 reposes will still work in the new game. You don't need to find excuses to go 'look I told you Skylanders killed Spyro' when it's not even confirmed.

Actually, I can see no light for Crash. The way he worked out is that he needed at least ONE new gadget for each new game, and each new gadget needed to be wackier and wackier for him. He's pretty much gone too crazy with his gadgets, and he can't become any crazier. Quote: Spyrobaro
Spyro Eclipse just focuses ENTIRELY on old gameplay. It's nice to see that someone still likes the formula, but the game won't be breakthrough unless there's someway to EVOLVE the gameplay. Sonic suffered because of no legit evolution, and I'm seeing that Spyro is losing light on evolution, too. You guys may want to reconsider my ideas. They may be bizarre, yes, I know, but I'm thinking that Naughty Dog thought of their own ideas for Crash to be bizarre at first, too. They were crazy enough to work, weren't they? My idea might be one of those ideas. |

Spyro almost had a movie. I don't think Crash got ever close to that. Spyro is also cameoing in another franchise. Crash's references stopped in The Eternal Night.
But I'm not here to dicuss which of the Playstation One mascots is better. But while Acti is sitting on his IP doing nothing(much like people who are doing nothing and expecting the company to make their wildest dreams come true) when they could be making mad cash selling it, at least Spyro is being used and if they ever decide to sell his IP too,he'll have a lot more appearances and people who actually know him by then. Just hoping they don't pull a Mega Man on both because the moment his CAMEO is doing better than the character ever did in the last few games, you know you dun goofed. Mind Over Mutant and DOTD were mediocre games, but at least none of which was a mobile game just to add insult to injury, and Skylanders is doing pretty fine unlike Rayman when he had to give up his place and even small appearances to the Rabbids for several years.

Well, Crash made a cameo in a trailer for the PS4..... In all seriousness though, Crash sold more than Spyro (pre-Skylanders), so really, he'd get more fanfare if he starred in his own game. And I don't see how a mobile game adds insult to injury. I hear Nitro Kart 2 is actually a good game.

I'm talking about Rockman Xover, which is the last Megaman game to come out, for the iOS of all things.
Mobile games aren't all bad(and the Spyro and Crash ones were pretty good for their time), but ending a franchise with one is kind of sad to say the least.

Not gonna happen. Once Activision gets a cash cow they'll abuse the heck out of it. So you're probably better off with Crash or starting a game that's much like a classic Spyro successor. Other than that I say go find a new game to exploit the heck and talk weed speeches about.

Oh wow, this sort of unrelated franchise from the same company as the franchise I like isn't doing what I want. I should hurt myself emotionally, it'll make everything better.
...In all seriousness guys, if there's nothing you guys can do to get your headcanon dreams/personal idea for the franchise, it's not worth getting sad, depressed, mad or lashing out on the devs/company. You know who loses? Yourself and yourself only, and maybe a really minimal loss from people who don't care but had to go through some posts to get context. It's not healthy and it but ruins your day, and the best thing to do is just either accept it or move on, and avoid it while watching the result from the sidelines. That's what I do with forum drama in some other places, getting the reactions instead of the real deal has half the bad taste in the mouth for the same amount of facepalms and laughing. Not even in the cynical sense I could be saying this. There's a lot of stuff you just have to drop and pretend it isn't around because it's only hurting if you move your attention to it just because of some excuse you make to yourself, and it's not just a bad day, it stresses one out completely and it hardly ever will get better right away.

I feel almost like a chump for being the one person in this thread ready to defend Loco for his hopes of a new Spyro game. Thing is, Skylanders isn't cutting it. It's a semi-decent game that has never been worth even the $60 it costs to get started, let alone the extra you have to pay to be able to access everything the game has to offer. Not to mention that once Spyro's Adventure came and went, the series was never about Spyro.
I for one would like to see a new Spyro game that's focused on Spyro, regardless if it's in the style of Classic or LoS. And being told "no you can't have that just play Skylanders" doesn't sit well with me, especially when the games I'm being implied to play don't even come close to the quality of even LoS. From what I've seen Loco shares this sentiment, and while he may be more outspoken about it, I don't think he should be discredited and told to forget all about it. That's like telling people to forget about there ever being The Last Guardian. Or Beyond Good and Evil 2. Or Half Life 3. If people can always hope for those games to exist and come out in the near future, Loco and others can hope for a new Spyro that goes back to how the older games played. That being said though, Loco, you can cool it down. Quote: LocoGuy107
Crash Bandicoot was the premiere mascot for Sony during the PS1 era. Many people see Crash and Spyro as having been partners at the time, and that's very much still true, but it's clear that Crash sold more and had more popularity. The only reason Crash doesn't get much talk anymore is because he didn't get a major reboot like LoS, nor was he the one used to help market Skylanders for the first time. It wouldn't be difficult to bring Crash back to his roots while still being creative and selling well. Couple this with the popularity and name recognition that he has amongst Sony veterans and the games industry as a whole and the odds of him getting a full reboot in the near future is more likely than Spyro's. I'd say a good few are. Not everybody likes Skylanders. |

>Forgetting that the $2 billion is not comprised of just actual game sales. As a game, Skylanders doesn't cut it. That's what we are saying. There are a lot of things fundamentally flawed about it. Most of that money is from toy collectors, not gamers. Not that I think a Spyro game will happen any time soon either, but Skylanders does not cut it. It's failing to innovate, and no series should EVER have to resort to "you can jump now" as a selling point.

Doesn't matter where the $2 billion are coming from, it's a successful franchise. And I'd hardly say that most of that comes from "collectors, not gamers". There are far more kids who just play the game than people who think "I'm going to collect every figure and keep them all in the box!". Even if there were more of these people, most collectors get their figures online from other people, not Activision. You could argue, if you really wanted to, that at least $1 billion of those $2 billion are defiantly from kids playing the game. Either way, it's a lot of money. But ignoring that... Saying Skylanders doesn't cut it as a game doesn't make sense either. Skylanders is extremely popular amongst kids, it's target audience. The later Spyro games were not nearly as popular amongst their target audience. If it's popular amongst kids, so much so that it rakes in over $1 billion in sales of games and toys, it's achieving it's goal perfectly. |

As a game, Skylanders can't actually be separated from its toys. The game isn't playable without them and they don't exist without the game. And do you have the numbers which say the toys are the greater part of sales? Even if they are, a lot of those toys are being bought by parents and collectors so they can play the game.
There's an interesting episode of Game Theory that says gamers don't want innovation and it's got the sales figures to back that up, so... :D |

We can never have a Spyro game because Skylanders exist. If they do then the people who don't know that Spyro existed would call Activision a sell out.

I never said I don't want a solo Spyro game, I'm just not sitting in my corner and yelling to the world so it knows I'm mad about it.
And Razz, toys selling more than the game was mentioned in the worldwide press release of Skylanders Trap Team. And that series CAN survive and actually be less expensive one day, but that takes Acti learning from Guitar Hero that not everyone is willing to spend so much to get the whole franchise, let alone get more than what they need. Taking me to the point that Spyro can "come back" if they actually start doing solo Skylander games. It's always an option to make a story where Skyro has to go on a mission alone or something, because Skylanders' lore has mentions of that all the time. If they actually have solo games which don't require toys, or require only an existing toy(for bonus and unlock stuff,as it is with the gimmick characters for each game), the series can definately last way more, and please a lot of people who can't really invest in it otherwise.

Game Theory is the same channel that made an episode that suggested Mario can run faster than Sonic. Which is very easy to disprove, as their presented logic had a lot of holes. Their videos are mostly supposed to be taken with a grain of salt, not as fact. I'm a regular viewer of Game Theory, and I have seen that episode you mentioned. It wasn't one of their best, I'll say that much. @bionicle: I was just explaining why CAV said "Skylanders doesn't cut it". We aren't debating whether or not the franchise is commercially successful (even though it's unfair to compare it to income of other games as Skylanders makes money off of the mandatory toys which push the price up). But that has no bearing on what I think of the game as something to play. As a game, it has a lot of problems (the binding to the toys being one of them), even for it's target audience. As CAV pointed out, the game isn't really worth the asking price, considering what else is on the market.

Ah, thanks Bifrost.
I'm with you on all of these things, but I'm not particularly confident that Activision will go that route since they have a history of more or less doing what works until they've milked every last drop of consumer interest out of it. I'd still personally love to see a solo Spyro game or a remake of the Insomniac three with Skylanders graphics, but I'm at the point where I'm not going to hold out hope or interest for it until I see an official announcement for that game's release. |
