Title kinda says it all. Not really sure how big Skylanders is for the handhelds, but man a Skylanders limited edition 3ds XL like these ones I see out there with Yoshi or Zelda would be really cool. Any chance of this happening? I know they did wii and wii u bundles so it could be possible. Or is this a pipe dream?

I've been hoping for that one for a while.
I think right now, the most likely candidate would be a 2DS getting a bundle. I'm honestly surprised they haven't done a Playstation Bundle yet (either for the 3 or 4) although with the "kid" image for Skylanders, I assume that they'll be sticking to Nintendo bundles for the time being.

Ha ha. Is that self-created? Looks cool.
I don't see the appeal of 2ds other than price. You can turn off the 3d in a 3ds if it bothers you (with the switch or with parental controls). I like the flip close deal way more than the one continuous unit way of the 2ds. But hey, to each their own. I know the Disney edition that just came out had both a 3ds XL and a 2ds edition. So it is possible to have both. I'm also not sure as to how popular this game is for the 3ds that they'd consider it. I looked on vgchartz and see that the 3ds version of swap force sold less than 1/10 of the amount that was sold on wii. Ouch. Of course, that still wasn't that far behind what the Wii U version sold...and that got a bundle.

I can't see this happening. The majority of 3DS bundles and limited editions are mainly Nintendo 1st party titles. But who knows... How do the handheld versions of Skylanders sell?

very unlikely because as already stated its mostly 1st party titles that get it. secondly you have to factor in for bundles that they'd have to include the starters, the game and the system. while that might seem to you a great deal to them it really isn't to do so. unless by chance they decide to do something for black friday like this that would be the only feasible time it would be possible. in anything else i'd say it's not going to happen

Taking that last ride through the sunset on skylanders. Hopefully a return of more classic spyro gameplay in the horizon. |

It definitely is highly unlikely. All 3DS special editions have been of games published by Nintendo (Zelda, Pokemon, etc.). They have never released a special edition 3DS/2DS that promoted a game that wasn't their own. I was surprised to see the Disney edition one, until I realized the game it was promoting (Disney Magical World) was actually published by Nintendo. The Wii U Bundle was just a bundle and not a special edition Wii U. It could be possible for a bundle, but not a limited edition 3DS.
I'll also agree with not liking the 2DS. I'm glad they released a cheaper version, as I'm sure my son wouldn't care about the 3D, but having the big brick instead of it being able to fold in half was a horrible idea. It seemed to make it less portable. Why couldn't they have just make it like the 3DS without the 3D? Were they afraid people would get it confused? Or did they design it poorly on purpose so people would still pay the extra for the 3DS? |
