Weird, huh?

This is the early Skyro sketch,it's even on the SSA gallery on this very site. Since during Spyro's Kingdom development they were going to make Spyro older, it's kind of a given they had to go back to the drawing board and do the young design once again from scratch. They took inspiration from the older games but you can never draw over an older sketch(which they don't have at all - I-Wei Huang is far from being one of the first Spyro concept artists) because the style wouldn't really be the same.

And there's probably early LOS Spyro sketch somewhere in the TEN ingame gallery,but it's not on here or in the Wiki so I won't bother searching.

I swear, when I look at that early sketch you gave me, I'm thinking that he was going to be a DIGIMON character!!!!!! AND I DON'T PLAY DIGIMON!!!!!!!!1!1!!1

If you're playing anything Digimon, you're doing it wrong.

Some Digimon games are okay ._.

But it doesn't have anything to do with Digimon. Spyro is lacking a ludicrous amounts of guns,armor and mean-looking face tattoos.

That's a really weird concept.

There is concept art for LoSpyro on Jared S. Pollen's blog; his digital model came out kind off, but they usually do.

Of course all the Spyros look kind of the like that finalized concept sketch; those are the basic traits that make him Spyro. But each new version of the games, including the old GBA titles, involved reworking the character. Also, the first sketch posted was not the original design sketch for the character. He went through a lot of iterations before Chuck Zembillas and the guys at Insomniac and Universal had a character that fit their goals for the game.
