I listen to close to all of it, including a few international ones on sky.fm (seriously Russian Dance is outstanding). If I was forced to choose a favorite I would go with House or Progressive..........and ambient.........and downtempo.........and indie rock...........and singer/songwriter.............and whatever Foster the People are doing............and the point is I listen to a lot of music.

I think the worst genre of music to me is the heavier forms of Metal, like Deathcore, Black Metal, Death Metal, Doom Metal, and so forth. I have little enjoyment of guitars, drums, and bass all trying to grab your attention leading to a sloppy mess that sounds like everybody is crashing things at the same time. And if I can't understand what you're saying because you're too busy singing from your colon, I can't understand the oh-so genius lyrics you've come up with.
Of course I'm talking in a broad sense. There's likely exceptions to this that I don't know about.

Regaetton sounds the same in every song so that's also bad.

Rap I think gets a really bad reputation and while it's for understandable reasons, I think it should get another look. Thing is, Lil Wayne and Drake are popular. So because they've gotten popular, several smaller up and coming artists will mimic their style to achieve mainstream success, from the stupid lyrics to the sleepy tone the two have when rapping. Lupe Fiasco can and has brought out intelligent and thought provoking songs and he is a much better example of what the genre could be.

I like foster the people also, and they're a sort of alternative rock/indie rock band

Foster's work, at least in Torches, is so different from the norm of alternative or even indie that I've heard that they could probably be in a genre of their own.

:/ , their newer album is more on the lines of alternative though, for example "Coming of age" it's not neccisarily the average alt rock song , but it's close enough to be classified as that in my opinion

I can't tell you my favorite genre, 'cause I don't really have one. I'll pretty much listen to anything and I'm open to new genres...

Except for rap and that screamo heavy death metal. I don't like rap 'cause most of those songs I've heard were usually about money, sex, or worse. And I don't like that screamo death metal 'cause I can't understand a word they say and a lot of the time when I can understand what they're saying, they always seem to sing about really dark and/or disturbing stuff.

Of course, I don't only stick to certain genres and I don't always keep away from rap and heavy metal stuff, even though I usually don't like it. I don't care what the genre is. If I like the song, then I like the song.

Favorite: Metal, all genres especially the heavier stuff. It's just me, but if you look past the "noise" people claim it to be, it's the purest music you can listen to since it usually makes sense and it passes a message that mainstream stuff can't.

Least: Rap, Pop, DUBSTEP. Just my opinion, mainstream stuff is absolute garbage. Don't get me started on dubstep, people call metal "just noise" and dubstep is quite literally just that. Fermented trash.

Favorite: I have two. Well......one and a half. My old favorite had always been Christian Rock. This was only because that's all I could listen to for like.....almost all my life. It wasn't till last year that I began to try other music, and fell in love with Alternative Rock and Indie Rock. I just like the beats, and all the lyrics of almost every song in that genre, that I've listened to, are amazing to me, all with a hidden meaning I try to find out. Also because Imagine Dragons is in that genre. <3

Least Favorite: Rap or Metal. Rap because most of the time I can't even understand what they're saying, nonetheless understand the lyrics when I get to look at them. As for metal, it's just people yelling and screaming, with some random banging of drums and guitars.

Favorite: Electronic/techno//house/trance/some dubstep/etc. and alternative metal/post-grunge. The former is because I like the beat and I find the sound soothing and attractive. I know people can say "it's just random noises" and for some songs I agree that they sound pretty bland, but I tend to like those noises if they're done right (especially if the lyrics blend perfectly with the rest of the song if there are lyrics). The latter is because I've always loved the sound of guitars (my dad was always big into death metal so that doesn't help). I find the singer's melodic voice and generally deep lyrics beautiful and they often go so well with the guitar riffs and instruments. Note that I don't mean death metal/screamo/anything like that.

Least favorite: Country, rap, and most pop. Country is because I don't like the way country songs are generally sung and usually don't care for the lyrics either, plus I live out in the country and have to listen to it all of the time at school and I'm kind of sick of it (I know that's a sad reason to dislike the genre, sorry). Rap is because I kind of just don't like the rap style of singing... I don't care for how quick they speak, no matter how attractive the beat is. I don't understand the lyrics and often if I do, I generally don't like the subject matter. Pop is also because I either don't like the beat, don't like the way the songs are sung, I'm sick of hearing them on the radio or at school, or don't like the lyrics. There are a few pop songs I like, however.

Bolded the short answer for the tl;dr people.
Sorry my reasoning is repetitive, boring, and doesn't make much sense. I'm really tired and blah blah blah

Dislike: Country, I find it incredibly boring. To me nearly every country song is "sung" in the same monotone to the exact same tune whcih consists of a repetitive less than 5 notes.
Rap, need I explain this?
Also, Heavy Metal. It's unneccessarily loud with the "singer" shouting out a slur of what I can only assume to be lyrics.

Like: Techno/Electronic, I just love the sound, though Dubstep is a bit too far and mostly just what sounds like record-scratching; Techno is more of a beautiful computer creation.
Some Pop, mostly P!nk and Ke$ha.

Fav: Electronic/techno/etc. I dunno why it just sounds cool. Also like 3/4 of my ipod is soundtrack music so that too.

Least fav: Heavy dubstep and rap. They sound aweful. I listen to music because it sounds pretty, not because I want my ears to bleed.

Like: pop, rock, eletronic, instrumental. Why? Listen to rock since I was a child, acdc, metallica, iron maiden and pink floyd were the first bands i ever heard and probably the ones I like the most ^.^ as for the eletronic, intrumental and pop, they just helps me a lot at getting inspiration and specially to relax. Even through im not a big fan of hard rock I dont get myself bothered by listening.

Dislike: most of rap, country and funk, i dont hate them, just dont feel confortable hearing them :/
