Oh yeah, how "bad" is the cash shop stuff so I know before getting into it?
Is it possible to enjoy the game at a normal level of progress without spending anything?

I'm fine with cosmetic stuff, but I can't stand ones that punish free players with brutally-slow progression (level speed, statistical disadvantage, gating, etc).

From what I read, FR sounds like it goes in the "good" pile, but just to make sure.
And any pointers for a beginner?

Free players? What do you mean by that?

Aah, there's no premium accounts, at the moment. The cash currency (Gems) can be obtained without actually spending money for it. It's pretty good in the whole making it more fair for people who don't wait to spend real money right now.

Well actually there's no "pay for higher rank to get stuff" kind of thing in FR. Everyone is basically a free player. Though you have the option of paying USD for gems to get gem paid only stuff, as well as everyone else.

Oh and always check the flights (all 11 element flights) before making your exact decision. As ask people from other flights what their community is, and do a bit of research on the local flight areas. Which is usually at the start of the game after making an account I believe.

Ay, but be careful lad. Always ask someone from the flight of the eye color though, you can get stuck with pompus snoots.

Little help for newbies.
THIS might help you a bit with figuring out which flight you want to choose. Well, when it comes to community on the forum at least.
HERE you can see the description of each flight. Kind of like which one fits your personality the best.
Or you can take this personality test and see which one suits you.

Or if you don't care at all for the community or what fits your personality the best, here are all eye colours your dragons will get when you breed them.

And eye would say to pick on the community, because eyes don't turn out very noticeable other than on Spirals. :/

Meh, honestly I notice it on every dragon. To me it looks nicer to have a vivid colour, otherwise it looks like they don't have eyes at all, like with Shadow.

Those. AND the daily up keep. If you keep your dragons well feed for 3 days and continue from there, you can earn some daily treasure, and you can get them from Familiars too.
