call me crazy, but if this is animated, this COULD work. The Lego Movie proved that films based on creative products like this can work, so if it's done right we could get a somewhat decent movie.

if it isn't done right then it'll be a standard terrible game-to-movie adaptation.

It's gonna be a hit because it has the word Minecraft in it. Maybe it could be like the Lego Movie and be surprisingly good?

What could happen is that Steve lives peacefully in his world, he mines everyday and slaves all day to provide for himself, but all goes wrong when the nearby village is taken over by monsters, Steve must go on a perilous journey to destroy their master, he must face his fears in The Nether and collect enough ender eyes to make his way to The End and defeat the dragon.

It could be like the first half of Wall-E, in which it's a mostly mute film exploring the world and a central character's attempts to survive.

It's not perfect but it could work, probably better than the Angry Birds film.
