I brought the first JAD title recently and quickly noticed how a lot of it reminds me of Hero's Tail. I get the feeling HT took reference of it.

Didn't JnD:tPL come out before AHT? I know Naughty Dog and Insomniac worked together a lot in the early days, so it probably has more to do with that.

The first Jak and Daxter game came out in 2001 and was developed by Naughty Dog; A Hero's Tail came out in 2004.

Wow, that was a clever way to attract attention. Name your topic after another franchise and put it in the game it reminds you of, HOW BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well people don't seem to be bothered about this topic anyway.
But I think it's more suited to the stuff & nonsense section to be honest. |

When I first played AHT as a kid, I thought they were copying Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank because of the pole spinning and wall jumping respectively (even though Mario 64 and probably other games had wall jumping even before R&C). But apart from that, the only similarity I see between AHT and J&D is the fact that they're both collectathon platformers.

Just playing it I'm reminded of a few things in Hero's Tail. I'm not saying they ripped it off, just got influenced by it like how most 3D platformers took inspiration from Mario 64 |

Oh I'm sorry, I brain farted. I thought you were talking about the front covers of the games. I see what you mean about the references, Jak can poll swing just like Spyro in A hero's tail, that's one instance. And how the levels are carried out is another; how they blend into each other. |

I get what you're saying. I always thought the exact same thing while playing it. Something about A Hero's Tail just feels a lot like the first Jak and Daxter game. I wonder if maybe they used the same engine?
