do you even know what the **** an element is Seriously. Elements are what make up matter. Fire, water, earth, air, and all the other bull**** you people are on about are not elements because they are far too broad to be described as the composition of matter. Hell, fire is not even matter itself, so that definitely excludes the list. The only elements in existence, as far as nature is concerned, are the periodic elements. |

Well, an element is like a natural habitat for animals or plants or whatever (I'm paraphrasing of course) What you're talking about aren't all elements, but I understand what you mean, I don't know why others don't

I am fairly sure that in the Pokémon card game that they are elements, I am fully aware that we refer to them as types, but when I first got into it they were elements. I'm also looking at the first ever published Pokémon Pokédex guide, and it says they are elements.
Also, I would like to share the fact that not everyone has the same knowledge as others, people have gaps in their knowledge that people find odd, but getting annoyed or angry at someone because they don't have the same knowledge as yourself doesn't exactly help. I've personally never come across a situation where I needed to know the definition of an element, so I never took the time to look it up or learn it.

a natural habitat, sphere of activity, environment, etc.: to be in one's element; Water is the element of fish.
This is the definition I found, so if I were to be a fictional creature that could only survive in electric currents, my element would in fact be electricity, no? I've also found articles that refer to space as an element. We are assuming this takes place a parallel universe where controlling elements is possible, so it's fictitious and therefore we could assume that other elements can exist. (IMO)

Elements make up matter. Space is the absence of matter. So no, space is not an element.

A tiny bit.
But, I see your point. Elements are things like oxygen, hydrogen, gold, mercury, etc. What I meant by elements is things like fire, water, air, earth, darkness, etc.

But that doesn't matter, you know exactly what he means, and we're on a Spyro site, you should know that his elemental breaths can include electricity and ice, and wasn't darkness a breath for a dragon at some point? Your input honestly isn't helping or being very constructive for that matter. (*Buh-Dum-Tss*)

I'm not sure what you mean by that, perhaps you could enlighten me further.
But you are trying to put so much logic and science into it, instead of just letting Rickorio have fun with his topic, just because someone is wrong doesn't necessarily mean you need to correct them. And this is an assumed fictitious world, so he is allowed to say that darkness is an element.

Back then in anchient Asian traditions, the Four Elements were an actual thing.
They believed that all of life was controlled by the four elements that ultimately made everything in the world as it is, basically nature. The elements on the periodic table just coined this word, so technically the four elements were there before chemistry elements came about. These elements became more popularized after a very old company (the beginning of Nintendo) invented a game called Koi Koi where you mix and match the four elements to get the highest score. so please stop acting like your Julius Caeser because you take AP chemistry and can understand that Au means Gold just cause you LOOKED at the periodic table.

die chemistry its only good for blowing things up
ON TOPIC Power wise? Well, that's a rather large range...I love playing with the ideas of fantastical powers (and not so fantastical) using my fictional works, in many different routes/ways, I dunno which one I'd have. Illusion is pretty cool, make fancy images/sensations/sounds, but I'd assume that it would be as difficult to learn as it is to learn how to draw, but in lower quantities illusion can be used to manipulate merely the amount of lighting (light/dark, not colour etc.), but that depends--would I want a more telepathic version of illusion, or more outwardly visual? Out of elemental powers, I'm as sure as I am with "powers". I won't blabber on about it...because I could about the "power" subject all day. fantasy shtuff. |
