Okay, so on this game I've recently gotten various goals that require me to have Elemental markers up. The problem is, I have them up, but they don't say they're done and don't check off automatically. I think it's the fact that all the markers I have up were won from the Wishing Well, because when I place one from my inventory, it doesn't do anything, but when I buy one with my gold, it recognizes I've put it down. I don't know if this is a bug or if it's supposed to do this, but I still think it's rather unfair that this is a goal that requires you to pay gold to finish it even if you already have everything needed to finish the task, especially since I'm trying to save up money for a new island. (running out of space to put stuff again >.>) Imo, the items should be recognized even if they haven't been bought with gold.
Has anyone else had this problem, and how do you feel about it?

It's like this for everything - not just markers. Just get used to the fact that just about every item required to meet quest goals must be purchased anew. And yes, it's obviously stupid.

Does it say "have" or "place"? That makes a difference. There used to be goals that said "have" and as long as you had them, it would clear. If it said "place", you had to actually buy them (not just place them from inventory or from somewhere else).

Indeed. I tried to keep a marker in inventory after winning from the well until I had a quest requiring said marker. It didn't count towards the quest when I placed it. Then I tried for a quest to wait until I would win a suitable marker for that quest in the well. Again, it didn't work. You must buy it.
The rules are whatever they want it to be, but what I find unfair is that the quests are worded "place" not "buy". Placing is not what is required. I get the banners done, you organize the protest

It said place. But yeah, I see Im not the only one who hates this. Guess I'll just have to deal it, I already bought the markers to finish the goals

When I win markers in the well, I sell them to get the cash to buy the ones in the quest. Keeps the number of elemental totems under control

I think he means the number of elemental markers, not totems. No sense having many of the markers around.
