But Cato is just misunderstood D:
Yeah, he might be ruthless and violent in the games, but wouldn't you be? I mean really, it's kill or be kill. Every kill brings him one step closer to winning. Towards the end and during a a certain characters death, you see a real human part of him that shows that the careers aren't the bad guys, but victims. They want to survive like everyone else. Katniss killed people. What about her? Now, if you say "Oh, but Katniss was upset whenever she killed someone and felt guilty" well, if you look at Finnick and a couple other characters, it shows how far being guilty about killing someone gets you. Brutus and Enobaria probably told him and Clove that even if they feel remorse, they should hide it, or the Capitol would punish them. You try to be nice in the games, but you really can't trust anyone. Only one winner. Each tribute, well, most of them, went into the games with an appearance plan. Cato's was probably to intimidate everyone else, make them scared. He obviously succeeded. He made himself look very strong, producing many sponsors. So yeah, but might appear to be ruthless and violet, but don't judge by appearances.

Am I the only one who imagined Cato as a stubby dude when I was reading the books?

Offending people by telling them they look good? That's more of a compliment than anything, I doubt anyone will be offended, unless you straight up list the people who you think are ugly.

Quite honestly, you, and all the others that have posted pictures, have been generally good looking, it's also not easy posting pictures of ones self online for people to see, as the poster may feel judged or ridiculed, fortunately DS is a wonderful site with wonderful people (for the most part)
