It's guaranteed, but it's been taking an oddly long time to announce him. Or it was, until the pattern of "characters get announced when they have an upcoming game/anniversary" came up. And it will mean we finally have the original 8 announced. From there, I feel like character reveals will get more interesting. As we will have less "expected" reveals each month.

It's true that he's not easy to control for some Smash players. You just have to learn to get used to playing as him. (If you really want to use him, that is)

He's really easy for me to control, and he's also my signature main/ace in the games.

You guys are easily fooled. You're dealing with a combination of Masahiro "Determination" Sakurai, and Hideo "Freaking" Kojima.

To explain, Kojima actually laughed in the interview, as soon as he was asked the question, then proceeded to say what he did.

Secondly, it's no secret that developers (popular Japanese ones especially) like to dodge questions. Takashi Iizuka (producer of the Sonic franchise) was asked about Sonic returning before he was officially announced, and every time, he would say stuff like "I don't know", or "Ask Nintendo, it has nothing to do with us". It's downright impossible for them to not know, as licensing needs to be arranged if the characters are to be included, even within second parties (for example, Sakurai has stated that Game Freak is very picky about Pokémon representation). Furthermore, Sonic was announced not long after the last time Iizuka was asked about his Smash inclusion. So what Kojima is saying doesn't give any more or less info. If anything, the laugh is encouraging.

Heck, Sakurai has done this before himself. He once stated (pre-Brawl, I believe) that an Animal Crossing fighter would never be put into Smash, as it was thought it would ruin the peaceful image of the franchise. But they ended up putting Villager in anyway.

Some very interesting news:

Earlier today, I believe, Michel Ancel, the creator of the Rayman franchise, and the Rayman Legends dev team, held a Q&A session over on Twitch. They've been answering a bunch of cool questions about Rayman lore and what not.

I visit a Rayman forum, and the guys there composed a list of questions for the live stream. One such question was for Ancel's comments on Rayman being in Smash Bros. Unfortunately, I missed the entire thing. So as of now, I do not have Ancel's direct quote. However, he did respond to the question, and this is one of the forum goer's paraphrasing of it:
