I mean, in SOME cases, he looks like some anime boy version of Spyro, but then in other cases...yeah...looks like there was a hidden character.

I don't think there's a strict "girl" look so I play Spyro as a girl in any game whenever I feel like it. :) Japanese Spyro was voiced by a woman, though.

He just went through the reverse Kirby effect so he looks more kawaii. Japanese gamers normally prefer cute characters to ones that look hardcore.

That theory has always been baloney to me. I like cute Kirby over angry, tough Kirby. And c'mon, Japan created this guy;

The Pokemon's designs were almost reworked because of that, and Nintendo of America decided against it and left them cute looking, good move on their part. To me, that's nothing more than a stereotype.

On topic, I see your point about Spyro, and the Japanese VA does sort of make it feel that way.

Ditto to this. Whilst there are exceptions of course, most things are 'toughened up' when they reach the states anyway. When I first walked through Narita Airport pretty much everything around me was chibi/kawaii.

Eww God no! One thing that's good about Sky-Spyro is that he's badass. If you make him a chibi he won't be as cool anymore, same with the classic Spyro.
