if you got them in a trade then where do u suppose the trader got it, or rather where the first trainer got it? i've never heard of a starter pokemon that is not in a regular pokeball, and ur trading stand here is lookin mighty suspicious

Its possible because in collosuem there are shadow pokemon of the evolution of the starters. Although you would need to
1. Reset again and again until its a female
2. Have A gamecube to gameboy Trade wire
3. Capture in desired pokeball
4. Transfer and breed

But actually in collosuem they don't have luxury balls or dive balls so these are most likely hacked

I did, and it still doesn't answer the alternate Pokeballs. It says that one of the Johto Starters are given to you after beating Mt. Battle. Though gift Pokemon would liekly be in Pokeballs, so it still doesn't explain the different Pokeballs.

Chained Skull's post offers explanation, though provides the valid point regarding the Luxury and Dive balls not being in Gale of Darkness.

Edit: Yeah i just checked Serebii, the ball that the mother pokemon was caught in is what is passed on to the baby pokemon so these pokemon can be in these balls so long as they were bred with a mother in that ball. Although that doesnt explain how the female got into that ball in the 1st place since the female species is what the egg will be. Maybe Ditto? I believe when it comes to ditto then ditto is the mother by default <.< i dunno

Yes, but female parent has to be in the ball for it to pass. Meaning he must, for example, have a female Totodile in a Dive Ball before he breeds. And if Ditto is treated as the mother, it defaults to using a generic Pokeball. It has to be an actual female Pokemon for the ball-type to pass.

However, there is no way he could legitmatly get a female Johto-starter in those ball, as starters are given in Pokeballs, and the ones catchable in : Gale cannot be in those specific balls as Dive & Luxury aren't in said game.

makes sense, i just never really cared what ball my pokes were in and since i breed with Dittos the standard pokeball is ok with me cause it has that classic feel. I just knew that passing on the ball was a thing lol
