She lied STRAIGHT to my parents! She said I was "cheating with a calculator even though the SCHOOL BOARD said I could use it! Yeah YOU are not a president you are a TEACHER! YESH!

What was the math for? Did it require a calculator? Or we're you being lazy? Did the school board say you could use a calculator for everything (doubtful), or for specific problems? You need to give more details before you can expect reasonable people to chime in.

Like Himewad said, the calculators don't apply to every test.
Was this some sort of special test? What type of calculators were you trying to use?

Do you have special permission to use said calculator that the teacher didn't know about?

If the school board says it's okay, then that only means there's no system rule against it. The teacher can make up his/her own rules in the classroom.

You're not even supposed to use calculators on state standardized tests iirc. And as other said, it's her choice if she wants to allow the rule in her classroom.

uhhhh a teacher really shouldn't make up their own rules for **** like this, it can confuse the hell out of students for one and the school board is saying its okay and op is implying that the teacher didn't tell them beforehand that there was no calculators allowed. if a teacher has their own rules then they should at least remind their students about them

Actually, I remember we could use them. Though they were very specific ones that the teacher would pass out. You couldn't use any old calculator, it had to be the one the teacher gave you.

I'm not saying whether the teacher should or shouldn't. I'm just saying that they can and they do.


Sleepy, what your teacher is doing does seem unfair, but don't expect anything to be done about it. As sad as it is, teachers really don't get get in trouble unless they do something that's either illegal or threatening to the safety of students.

wow what a math teacher. heh it reminds me of the grudge I have on my math teacher, he just so unhelpful in terms of his style of teaching, I've got a d because I cant get my work done. He doesn't really give me anything concreat in terms of doing a problem, I soo need a new teacher.
