If they contribute enough (make helpful videos, explain things, amuse employees, etc), they're rewarded.

This really didn't belong in the Skylanders section, so I moved it.

Will still be checking the forums every now and then!

Because some youtubers have many viewers and promote Skylanders with their videos, so free stuff is a way for Activision to reward them.

bye

Having a decent number of subscribers helps too.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed.

What these folk said. Activision can spend several thousand on producing and airing a television advertisement that won't be watched by a decent chunk of the audience (restroom breaks, skipping via DVR, whatever) or can give someone a figure that probably cost them less than $2 to make and ship and get thousands of people to willingly watch a 10 minute video that, basically, is an advertisement for the game.

Go in front of Activision's building, then play Pokémon Yellow (from a new file from the start of the game) on a limited edition DK Edition GBA SP. Once you reach the Elite 4 enter the Hall of Fame 26 times in a row. On the 26th time an Activision employee will walk up to you and ask for a secret password. Do the Macaraena 894 times and since the Activision employee is so impressed that you wasted so much time following ridiculous advice a stranger gave you on the Internet, they'll ask you to go away and offer you free Skylanders including but not limited to all chase variants, prototypes of figures and new Skylanders before anyone else has them. By the way, you have to make sure while you're doing this a bulldozer is trying to drive you away.

They're not really free. They're just getting paid in figures to promote the product. Not a bad deal at all.

This isn't necessarily true. I know of a few Youtubers with about 300-400 less subscribers than me who have gotten free figures, such as Red Dune Bug from Activision. I unbox every new Skylander and give updates on my channel and have never gotten an email or message from Activision.

Although I also do Infinity unboxings and overviews so that could be why lol.
