Even though they're not worth anything, I might take a gander and grab one of the chases. Apparently, they're much more common than Skylander chase figures.

There's lots of "clones" of the series; its made so much money you can't really blame them. Even the closest competitor, Disney Infinity, hasn't really captured that same craze level (at least as far as I can tell)

To be honest, it's good to have some competition, because it forces Activision/Toys for Bob to really increase the potential of the figures and merchandise.

After going on a Skylander run (Two ToysRUses?), I can say that these aren't selling at all. They're all overstocked, and not a single chase to be found, lame.

The "grotesquely-drawn caricatures in cars" style reminds me of Ed Roth's art, is this just a knockoff/parody of that?

It just seems like the generic kart racing game.

Not starting a game war but how are you positive Disney Infinity isn't doing well? If they have a lot of stock that's good as stores in my area have yet to restock completely after Christmas (however Target, Walmart, and Toysrus are literally overflowing in Skylanders).

My TRU has been stocked well for Swap Force, but mostly the latest wave. But it has nothing to do with it not selling. I've been in the store to see lots of cases of figures on the top shelf only to come back a few days later to find the pegs still fully stocked but the cases gone. Now they could have moved them into the back room, but I think TRU just keeps things so well stocked that as the figures go out, they just replace them. Unlike other stores that sell out of the new stuff and don't replenish for another month or two.

I actually bought the set of 10 cars when Toys R Us had huge sales for them just before Christmas. My son likes monsters and actually took some to school since they are hot wheel size and fit in his pockets. He is looking forward to the next wave coming in Spring (there are pictures of the next wave on the website). Hopefully the line doesn't get cancelled and they do release the other cars.

The app game isn't too bad. It's a Mario Kart clone with in-app purchases for upgrades. The codes you get from toys unlock more cars in the game, although what I found strange is the code that comes with a character won't necessarily unlock that specific character. For example, the code that comes with Dracula could unlock the Zombie, and the Zombie code could unlock Frankenstein, etc. It's not random, as after entering all 10 codes we unlocked all 10 characters. One huge downside to the codes is they are one time use only, and don't carry over to different devices even if you're using the same Apple ID/Gamecenter account. So we unlocked them all on our iPad, but the codes won't unlock characters on my iPhone. I'm sure the same would apply to trying to use them across different Google Play devices.

The funny part about the chase variants is we were at Toys R Us this past weekend and I found a 3 pack with a red Wolfman guy. I showed it to my son and asked if we should get it and he said no so I just put it back.

its official guys pokemon rumble u is a competitor to skylanderps, even though they only released figures for about 1 month.

lol, I decided to go look at them again (at a closer ToysRUs this time), and I did find a chase figure: Matte Black Captain Heinous.

I bought it, just for the heck of it.

In my opinion app games can not compete with console games. I wouldnt worry about these getting that popular.

They are only priced on how well the franchise has enter the bigger customer range and size. Same concept will always try to grab a piece of the market its hard to compare prices the big ones luke skylanders over other new comers for the same concept..
