I'm sure there is more than meets the eye. Updates come along for them to put out new content, like upcoming figures. They embed them in the update, then trigger them at the appropriate time. They just don't announce everything new, because some of it won't be triggered until down the road and people will complain.

Yeah, I know, I just didn't want to take any chances with TT to find anything new. There's enough hope now to keep me going.

I am just glad to see no more snow. It is tough enough as it is to look outside and see 3 feet of snow on the ground, I don't want to see it in my game too!! It makes me think spring might actually show up eventually.

I'm think the same, if they only wanted to remove the snow, they wouldn't need an update through the app store, they would have done it to loading the game, as usually. However, in Appstore, they only explain the changes as "bug fix". I don't know what else to think, because, in the other way, they usually use the Appstore updates when a big upload in coming.
May be they have been working in prevent people TT before introducing new things, and this changes are in the game now......

I take it that the well hasn't changed the top prizes?

My well is still an un-won chompy carnival.

Anyone else feel like the selection screen for houses is working different? Cant put my finger on it...

If changing the snow is all they did, I might wait. I like seeing the snow. Probably took away the snowmen, too, although I don't need more wish stones. I was thinking that the updates that changed the look (I.e. Dark and snow) were AppStore updates, but maybe I'm wrong.

It doesn't surprise me. The original issue wasn't a glitch, but a fix to keep people from time traveling and getting a bunch of free stuff. Of course that fix made everyone's well with a random item this month, but we're not sure that's not what's supposed to happen. The only way it will really cause a problem is if they add something to the well. Until they do that, they really have no reason to do anything about it. Plus, if they reset it, now, what good will it do? What will appear in it? They can't reset it until they actually release something for the well.

How funny, my daughter was trying to play her game on the way to piano practice after I picked her up this afternoon........the game wouldn't let her connect. It said something about Choas doing something yada yada, you must have an internet connection to update the game to play it again.

This is werid because I did not get that on my ipad the whole day and just updated because I finally wanted the snow out. I hope they don't try to fix time traveling by requiring an internet connection.

I just tried to start the game in airplane mode and it worked fine. If I remember correctly that error message means the game knows you need an update but it's unable to download the update.

OMG it's been so long since I've seen the skylands without snow. my eyes started twitching after the update. soooo much bright green >.<

At least it's something... It gave me a glimmer of hope for a minute, but I would think the would have refreshed the sheep or something if this meant more. Still hoping the update will prompt more as we go.

Snowler Brawl's hut and snowmen still around. I can't figure what is going on.

It's possible they are planning something else for the well. I'm not sure this was meant to be an update to add new content. With that said, I know everyone is getting excited that they even released anything, but it's possible this update may not be the answer we want. One of the biggest arguments against them not releasing another update was that they wouldn't just leave it with the snow. This update seemed to only remove the snow, so that dismisses that argument. I hope that's not the case, but it does seem silly to release an update (especially one in the App Store) that was only to remove the snow and not be an actual update.

I think you guys are wrong about the well. The well *is* fixed already. It's set up to offer people last year's alter ego of the month if they don't have it and something else if they do. This way the well keeps itself "fresh" every month without the developers having to actively tend to it (yes, I feel this supports my theory that the developers are basically done with the game). It could be that time traveling screws that up, but I'm guessing it wasn't set up in any way to thwart time travel.

Also, while I could read this update as a positive sign that they are still actively developing updates for the game. I'm still coming down on the side that this is just a final update to get the developers completely out of the game.

Whoa. I really HAD forgotten what the islands looked like green. I feel the urge to add in some walkways and such. It's just....so....green.....

So, has no one tried to TT to like Monday or Tuesday to see if, per chance, an update appears? Since we know they can program them to automatically load on a certain date (as they did over the Christmas break). I would try it, but I haven't downloaded the new update, yet. I don't feel like dealing with it unless I know it actually updates something. Plus, I kind of like the snow.

There isn't anything new for the well, this month. Just a random gem item (i.e. companion, house, Skylander, shrine, etc.) in its place.

Right. Going forward, they've set the game up to offer some random gem item as the monthly prize if you already have the alter ego, and the alter ego if you don't. It seems to me like a way to make the game "evergreen" with no further need for the developers to push updates. And they'd only do that because active development for this game is at an end... As usual on this topic I hope I'm wrong....

I'm right there with you, midas - This looks like they have set the game to run on autopilot from now on.
Having said that, building in the ability to keep running doesn't necessarily mean there will be no new content - I'd be more worried if we'd found all the Swap Force characters in this last update. Obviously they will add them all, and if they really were going hands off for good I'd have expected the rest of the SFF figures to appear in this last update.

So I decided to play the game again yesterday, just for kicks. I've heard people saying the EOTD was broken and then it got fixed, but it's stayed broken on mine for some reason...

At least they pushed out an update, but I wouldn't get your hopes up, guys. It would be horrible for the game to be "discontinued"(especially without them officially announcing it...), but that really just seems to be- at least for now- what's happened with it...

An update (of even bugfixes) is at least encouraging. There is a new Skylanders game about to be announced in 2 weeks, so that might lead to a new iOS game.

It does seem though that this genre of game doesn't make sense to discontinue unless you plan to replace it, since the new characters will make them lots of $ in gems. Replacement would probably lead to a lot of angry fans, unless you could import your current Skylanders at their Lost Islands levels.

So I would hope that at least wave 4 and 5 are in there somewhere, with maybe some teasers for the new game...

Is that a St. Patrick's Day green or was it always that color? I don't remember it being THAT green.

I haven't updated, yet, but I remember it looking super green after the dark days. I think it's just that we get used to the temporary look and forget what it really looked like. Although I can't be 100% sure since I haven't seen it myself, but I say that's all it is.

After I got the update, my game crashes every time I go visiting to other islands. Sometimes it crashes as soon as I try to get to the first island or sometimes I can visit up to 3 islands before the game crashes. Anyone else having this problem after the last upgrade?

For this among many other reasons I don't visit friends islands any more.

Ya, that's how my game went KAABAM too, so I've been gun-shy about visiting every since. I did get my game back - exactly as I left it - after about 3 weeks, but I recognize that was lucky.

I just bought Avril this morning - since collecting all the companions seems like a reasonable goal at this point whether I need them or not and she was on sale - but I'm in no hurry to complete her quest of collecting from visiting. When I've "completed" everything else and it's a case of "either I'll complete the game, or it will corrupt - either way I'll be done", then I'll risk it.

I think they may have somewhat fixed time travel. I'm pretty new at the concept, so maybe this is how it always worked, but if you go into the future and collect from houses, etc...then go back to the present, time is added. From reading the forum, it seemed like that was happening if you traveled to the past and then back to the present, but now it does it no matter which way you travel.

It does make time travel pretty irrelevant (unless I'm doing it wrong) since the only real reason to do it now is completing a day or two worth of tasks if you are going to be gone for a while. When you return to the present any time you traveled into the future is added to all tasks.

Whenever you collect from a house, shrine or anything that has a time between collections, it will always set the time you collected to that time. If you happen to be in the future when you do it, it will set the time to that future time. When you come back, it will just see the last time collected and determine how long you have until it's ready o be collected again. That means it's going to look at that future date plus the time between collections (for example, 1 hour for shrines). So you will have until that time before you can collect. If you collect in the past, it will look at that time. Of course, if you collect far enough in the past (especially if your just going back a day) and collect, you're usually passing the time when you go back to the present, so you can collect again. Just know that if you collect in the present and go back in the past, it will now be looking at the present time (or future because you're in the past) for you next collection time. It's pretty simple, really, and no reason for them to change it.

No, this is always how TT has worked. The one thing you should NOT do when in the future is to tap on anything that will start a timer (e.g, regular houses, community buildings) as you will have that much more time to wait when you get back to the present.

Or you can TT to ahead of when the next collection is available and TT back to the present before collecting, again. It will reset the timer.

Something strange happened with my game after recent update from AppStore. I have all skylanders and companions already, so the grand prize in wishing well was Chompie Gift Shop after this update on 05-Feb-2014. Today for Gold Super Tuesday when I cleared totem I saw that Grand Prize in wishing well is now Girls HQ and I have 17 days left to win it.
Also I noticed that I have recently the same element of the day for two or three days in a row - like I had two days of water, then two days of fire, now I had two days of air and my next day will be air too - so three air days in a row. For random generator it is very unlikely.
So I will wait till next Tuesday and see if Grand Prize will change once again. I can TT but don't want to mess with wishing well because it had glitches with TT in the past and I don't want to screw my wishing well this way.

Rom, I was about to say I haven't had any of that happen, but then I remembered that I haven't downloaded the update. If it does change the well every Tuesday, I might have to break down and download it.

Rom, had you already won the Chompie Gift Shop, or was it still available when the prize changed? It could be that the prize only changed if you hadn't already won it, since my prize was not affected.

No, I didn't try to win anything this month because I have Chompie Gift Shop already. So it might happened only because of grand prize was still available to win. I forgot to mention that at the same time my lucky meter jumped by itself to the half past second mark - I'm pretty sure that I didn't throw even one wish stone to the well this month.
It is most likely some glitch in the code like I had previously with 4 my fully leveled skylanders disappeared and I had to spin for them again and Whirlwind (or Polar - don't remember exactly which one) came back after spin with level zero and was unable to send her to any adventure because of level 1 requirement Fortunately sheep and trolls have no level restrictions so I got her to level 1 immediately. I was lucky that it affected only regular skylander and not alter egos.

Now I regret winning the Chompie Gift Shop that was also in my well this month...

Also, why am I still playing this game at all?

You're playing so I can come here once a day and check to see if the game has been updated rather than log into the game and be disappointed.

The Simpson's Tapped Out is holding my tap, tap, tap gaming fetish and Bravely Default has replaced the 'gotta level them all' mentality for Skylanders.

Hey Pico, if you need a friend on tapped out I'm argcallie (maybe with a 427). I'm sadly still checking Lost Islands once a day wishing it would come back but Simpsons is more interactive right now.
