Sooo about 2 weeks ago my fiance and i were out shopping early killing time before i got my hair cut. We stopped into Toys R us and came across these 2 gems. The walls were virtually bare, hardly any swappers. just a million zou lous, and lightcore hex's and shroombooms. and these 2 were sitting right out in the front. I had to double take. I saw one of them, while my fiance noticed the other. Obviously we grabbed them both.

The clerk knew us since were there so often, and he didn't say anything except that they looked cool. Both my fiance and I thought right away that this was an employees stash that was put out by some one who didnt know what they were. Cause to find any is crazy. I NEVER have, but then to find 2 at the same time?? Bizarre.

Well 2 weeks later, a few days ago, my fiance was in the back office at toys r us for his job. He's in there a lot. Told me he saw white flocked prism break in the managers office. He mentioned that it was a cool skylander to the manager and he acted very odd. and kept checking on it, to make sure it hadnt gotten stolen.

Now I know a lot of people think its ok for employees to take them. But what ever happened for me to get these two, i'm glad it did. Because I finally had a fair chance. And if it wasnt for employees taking them all along, i may have found more.

You're very lucky. I would consider selling one of those. They go for a lot of money.

I haven't sold mine yet, but I probably will before the release of Skylanders 4 and use the acquired money to spend on the new figures.

Considering ive never found ANY of these variants and ive been hunting since the first game. NO I was not leaving such a hot ticket item for some one else to find.

Don't blame you one bit. Now you have one to use to trade for another rare figure.

I just got back from from TRU, and I saw my very first chase variant: Purple Lightning Rod. I have never expected expected to see any of them in the wild. Sadly (for me), it was in a little boys hands. He and his mom were getting quite a few Skylanders, and he was very excited by what he found. I was very happy for him, and after I was able put my jealousy aside, I went over and explained to his mom exactly what he was holding and told her to hang on to it. Just as well: at least now I don't have to track down the other two purples!

It will be collecting dust at the bottom of a toy box or chewed up by the family dog in two months...

is that story true stoat?? I would have waited to see if they followed through with buying it, Then i would have bought it myself, or offered them a bit more than what they paid for once they bought it. considering they probably didnt know the real value, and if they were already buying a few others. The mom probably would have liked the extra cash. I try not to inform people on the value of chase variants who dont know what they are. (my dad taught me that, since hes a huge hot wheels collector)

It was very true, Tupelo. The boy was so excited, and I didn't feel it was worth it to try to get them to part with it. They did buy it, though. I saw them cashing out as I left.

Better that than hung up in some grown adult's Skylanders shrine or elaborate display case, never to be opened or enjoyed. Please let us not forget who these figures are aimed at in our jealousy of the intended audience finding one instead of some collector that methodically combs the racks twice a week. Maybe in a collector's mind they don't "deserve" it or appreciate it enough, but that's not right.

Not really, scalping is buying large amounts of something for the sake of reselling. Like someone here previously mentioned buying multiple nitro magna charges because of a temporary shortage.

Selling a chase variant is completely okay if you find one. It's not like they're in cahoots with the manager or anything.

it really bothered me when i saw people selling the wave 3 swappers on kijiji for $30 each. Especially since stores are well stocked with them. Stuff like that really ticks me off. Yes they were rare, but now ive seen many. By the time people were trying to sell them for $30 each they were well stocked in the stores.

people, whom id call scalpers trying to make twice what they paid. and the people who will buy them, only encourage it.
