Kind of iffy about their character designs, and I don't really like Sly's new voice.

It's too early to make any real judgements now though, since there's a long way until the movie will be finished.

It looks pretty cool, I'll watch it. Hope they do something about the character designs though...

Are you guys sure that's not Kevin Miller voicing Sly in this? It sounds like him... But now that I listen to it, maybe it's not.

After Sly 4, I can't bring myself to be too excited, alas. I hope this redeems the franchise a bit, but I'm not very confident about it. I see Murray is still being written as "fat comedic relief" instead of an actual character the way he was in the Sucker Punch days. If Carmelita wears real person clothes and is treated with some dignity, I might be happier about this.

Yeah, anyone remember in Sly 2 where gently was by himself in the Contessa level???

I probably will watch this, but Murray...ugh.

I mean, I've considered the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th games movies in themselves with all the cutscenes and dialogue. Also, I'm really surprised they're not going for the cartoon style of the games' typical cutscenes. That would have been cool. It's curious that the 2 studios are the EXACT same ones working on the Ratchet & Clank movies. I guess Sony has some sort of plan in mind.

Related to Sly's voice, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that was James Arnold Taylor. Call me crazy, but I swear Sly sounded very... Ratchet-y in that trailer. <.<;

There's a difference between just being a cartoon with no pants (Sly and Murray) and being treated as an object solely for the male characters to ogle (Carmelita in Sly 4).

This explains it in much more detail than I feel like going into right now.

Bluh. I dislike that everyone assumes equality for all genders is just "nitpicking", especially when they don't actually bother to read the linked articles (which contain a huge number of legitimate, valid points).

Compare and contrast the Carmelitas:
Sly 1, 2, 3: a kick-butt cop who was devoted to her work and had the skills to do whatever was necessary. When she did get caught in a bind, she was able to help free herself and always got her own revenge. Wore at least practical-looking clothing for a cop.

Sly 4: does nothing but manipulate the male lead for little/no reason, incapable of getting herself out of situations she could easily have gotten out of before. Gets forced by supposed "hero" to do demeaning stripper dance. Wears clothes that are little better than being naked and designed just to titillate.

I really liked and admired Sucker Punch's Carmelita for being a character above all else and sticking to her guns (heh) no matter what. Sanzaru Carmelita is just kind of gross and reminds me of nothing so much as a furry fetish character.

Not that you guys will read it (please, prove me wrong), but here's more legitimate reasons why Sanzaru Carmelita isn't cool for everybody.

Sly's legs and tail look weird to me.

I think the folks who spoke out about Carmelita's treatment in the fourth game will make a difference in the next one, which is why I myself speak out about it. Since money speaks louder than words, I didn't buy the game until I could get a cheap used copy off eBay that does not give money to the companies responsible.

It doesn't make anyone a bad person to like Sly 4, and it doesn't make Sly 4 any better or worse if people have problems with it. I've got problems with it that I hope are fixed in future installments/the movie. That's my two cents, yo.

If a product is bad, why would the people who don't like it want to support that same company making more of said product? I'm certainly not going to waste $60 on something that's not enjoyable or, worse, legitimately upsetting (you'll understand the value of that kind of money when you have to buy your own games). Boycotting is less "extreme" and a lot more "practical" when it gets down to it.

Sales or lack thereof is not as much of an indicator of sequels these days. In this case specifically, there is no confirmed sequel for Sly 4 even though it was financially successful. Contrary to that, LoS was a financial bomb and we got Skylanders out of it. Okami was very successful and it's company went under completely.

Letter writing campaigns haven't worked since before the Internet age. I was part of a huge one and it did nothing. Companies will do what they want to do.

I suspect Sanzaru has seen the complaints about Sly 4 and maybe they'll do something about them. In the current gaming climate where the rampant sexism/misogyny of the community is making huge headlines, I'd be surprised if they didn't make some changes.

Of course you do. You're a teenage guy. Almost the entirety of media is made for and directed at you. It's different from the other side and it might do you some good to step in someone else's shoes for a minute and consider how, say, a sister or mother might feel in this situation. Would you still feel this way if Sly had been put in a miniskirt and constantly needed rescuing by his girlfriend who would later force him into a degrading and humiliating situation?

Dimitri better be in this, OR ELSE

^It's especially weird because Dimitri was the first person to speak in the teaser trailer for Sly 4. ^.^;

But really, Dimitri's cheesy one liners is a bug part of what makes me love the series.

In fact I think Le Paradox is the only main antagonist thus far to survive. Clockwerk's dead (although his past self could reappear), Arpeggio got killed by Neyla, who then was also killed by Bentley, and Dr. M got crushed by the collapsing Cooper Vault.

yet another film based on a sony license by rainmaker entertainment. if this keeps up i bet we'll get a littlebigplanet movie announcement next year.

meh, i have the same thoughts for this as i did rachet and clank. sly is one of those franchises i've always wanted to play but never got to because i own no sony systems, but the film looks overall decent so far.

Literally every comment on the movie's Facebook page right now involves some variation of "Y U NO KEVIN MILLER?" *brick'd*

I was thinking the same thing, only for Jak and Daxter, considering the amount of crossovers and references those three games have had with eachother I feel like it's inveitable.

Or at least I hope it is cause that would be rad as hell.
