I've been reading alot about it & i RLY like how the figures work personally & i RLY like the power disc idea even tho idk what they do, but still the concept of them & the toybox mode seems cool but i'm also concerned about getting it because i hear negative things about it too, like the characters dont save to the figures, or they dont have abilities or paths, or you can only use them in thier own storymode & i just read that all the characters are basically the same if thier from the same movie?? these are just a few things that i've thought of, but i rly like the power disc idea, but i also think it's a rip off to pay what, $5 for a pack of two? & they're random...?? idk the details but i love the idea no matter how much i hate the idea of spending $30+ to try to collect them all. (i hope i make sense...) i guess what i'm asking/want to know is, is it worth it to buy? would you buy it again the first time with your knowledge of it now?? how would you do it differently? what do you guys reccomend for me?

This site is somewhat biased in regards to it, though I must say despite my liking of Skylander,s I am still a fan of Disney. I have not bought the game and this is based on reviews I've read from other users here.
With that in mind, I would not buy this game. I prefer to have a decent story mode with much to do within it. From what I've read about it, the story is rather limited, only allowing the characters of said story into it and not every series of whcih characters are avilable having a story mode (such as Jack Skellington with no NMBC story mode). This pushes all focus towards the Toybox mode. Which creating your own levels is nice and all, but the controls for it are not particularly "user friendly". One parent even said that his kids had a great deal of trouble being able to operate the controls to build the level, so much so, that they jsut quit playing within the first couple of weeks of buying it and don't touch it. On top of that, getting the pieces for ToyBox is dependant on two things, getting Power Discs that unlock certain ones or a roulette whcih each character you purchase getting to spin so many times. To truly unlock every piece for ToyBox, you would have to buy every figure and every Power Disc. Which with Disney's prices, will cost you several hundred dollars easily. The same could be said with Skylanders, but Skylanders doesn't require every figure and is a few dollars cheaper. If it were up to me, I would put more classic Disney in there, things such as Peter Pan, Mulan, and story modes for them, not just characters. Infinity seems to have more focus on Pixar than actual Disney. I also wouldn't buy it unless the prices were closer to or maybe a little lower than Skylanders'.

I have to agree with the post above. I do not have the game, nor do I want to have the game. My opinions are also on other's reviews and pictures that I've seen.
Honestly, Disney Infinity is just a cheap (or should I say expensive) rip off of Skylanders. I even saw a picture of the DI developers with Skylander figures in their picture. Sketchy much? It absolutely does seem geared more towards Pixar characters. They should have included Lilo & Stitch (they might have, I am unsure), Sleeping Beauty, and other various older Disney Characters. If you have Skylanders currently, I seriously don't recommend you get the game. If you buy the Skylanders figures AND the Infinity characters, you'd be wasting so much money on toys that it would be scary. Plus, they're so similar that it would be like playing the same game with different characters and a Sandbox Mode. That's my two cents on the topic, anyway.

As a person who actually has the Wii U version of the game, I can say the game is pretty good.
The comparisons to Skylanders aren't warranted at all. Yes, while it has the same RFID Figures for the characters, it is made completely different. Each world has it's own story, characters, and genres. Example: Cars is a racing game, Pirates is an adventure game. Toy ox mod eis also really fun, though a bit limited. The figures themselves are great little things. The look of them is great, you can tell the personalities of the characters just from the figures alone. Only problem being is that they are expensive. I don't recommend trying to complete both Skylanders and Infinity collections at the same time. |

Its your money, its up to you if you want to buy it or not. Don't let someone tell you not to get it because he or she like Skylanders more. Your on Darkspyro website after all which alot of people like Skylanders more so it's obvious most of the others don't like Disney Infinity. Most of them here just say its suck even though they haven't played it so decide what ou want and don't let other decide it for you.

I played a decent enough amount to say; don't get it. It's not worth it.
It isn't meant for younger kids. Toy Box mode is terribly complex for them, driving controls are awful, and it just feels very unfinished. Hopefully they crank it up a notch when the sequel comes out. The game is basically a more complex version of Spore: Galactic Adventures.

And just because you saw a picture of them with Skylanders doesn't mean its a copy of them. It had already been in development in 2010 around the time the first Skylanders game came out. And you know what else? Skylanders wasn't even the first video game to use the 'toys to life' idea, there already was a similar video game called UB Funkeys! Anyhoo, I got the game in August and I love it. The sandbox mode feels very deep, creative, and reminds me of spore galactic adventures. I am also a fan of disney movies (their TV shows stink nowadays though) and you can use your imagination to build almost anything like you could in Minecraft, without being as linear and repetitive like it is. The playsets are nothing special (except the Pirates of the Carribean), but the Toy Box mode is great for crafting things you can think of. Even if you can't build, you can still download from other people who can. It is also quite fun if you have friends to play it with. The worlds also feel very gigantic and the game is well animated, not as good as Disney's movies though. The power discs are definitely overpriced, but they are only optional and not really required to complete the game unless you're crazy about that horse from Tangled or the other stuff they unlocked, not really worth worrying or mentioning (besides coming in Blind Packs) The game isn't flawless though: Compared to the Skylanders, most of the characters play identically and do not have as many differences in their gameplay, I think its pretty sad and I hope they do something about it in the future. The toys are also quite expensive and if you want ALL the infinite possibilities, you need to get every toy (though if a friend has something you don't, you can still play with it in their toy boxes). There are also frequent glitches and technical difficulties that can be quite annoying, though they are working on patches and updates to fix it. To sum it up: What I like: - Disney's Magical Charm - Amaxzing Sandbox Mode - Large and Varied Gameplay - Great Multiplayer Experience - Nice Animation - Charismatic Figurines - Interesting side missions What I dislike: - Repetitive, somewhat mediocre playsets - Having to grind for everything in the toy box - Pricey and expensive toys, just like Skylanders - Common Glitches - A lot of the Characters don't have many gameplay differences If you already own Skylanders but want this: You would need to balance them out with your money. I prefer the toys for Skylanders and buy them more often since DI guys are the same, but I found DI to have more content and lasting appeal. It's not ideal for young kids though, controls are too complicated for them to create stuff. But if you're not really willing to pay extra cash, you should look at games like Battleblock Theater, LittleBigPlanet, or Minecraft (even though I think its overrated) instead.

I wish people would just stop with the "rip-off" thing. It's not like Activision owns the "Toys to Life" game technology. They didn't invent this, they just perfected it.
They're two different games. Infinity is a Sandbox/Adventure game, while Skylanders is an Action RPG.

Not sure if you noticed but most games have the same price and features? What features?! They share the toy gimmick? That's the only thing they have in common. |

Infinity figures cost $13 Normal Skylanders cost $10 Lightcores basically cost the around same amount as Infinity toys SWAP Force guys cost $15 Giants cost $15 as well There are more Skylanders than Infinity figures (not counting additional variants), even when comparing just SWAP Force. So yeah, a bigger ripoff? I think not. Also even if it is a bigger one, Infinity sold 3 million starter packs already and was the 10th best selling game of 2013, beaten by Minecraft on the Xbox 360. No Skylanders game made it on the list.

If you are young don't buy it unless you are playing with an adult who knows the game very well.Other then that the game is good except the whole character limitation stuff.I don't have it but from what I have played it is not that good.if you already have skylanders stay a way from it unless you are stopping with skylanders then yeah go for it.
