I have a couple of figures I bought from Amazon and they were figures I would rather keep in the box than take out, but they came semi open where the glue seemed to be drying up. The picture on the cardboard isn't ripped at all where the glue was. I tried a little super glue with a toothpick but it looked a little foggy and it didn't stick for very long. The Punch Pop Fizz I got in retail packaging had a bubbling effect all around the plastic like it was under some very high temperature conditions or even a flame. So any advice for glues or anything else that will make it at least look new?

i have the same problem. my cat attacked my gnarly tree rex package and he knocked the plastic bubble cleanly off the cardboard. ruining the resale value. ive also seen a lot of giants packaging at the stores with glue problems like that. just cleanly fall off.

Yeah this appears to be a problem with these figures. I have 5 different ones that popped of the card. It appears with the cold and hot changes the glue just doesn't hold and the bubble pops off if bumped or really any contact to the bubble. There hasn't been a store I have been to that doesn't have figures in this state. Has anyone tried gorilla glue?

Get a very small paint brush and some clear Elmer's school glue. "Paint" a very small amount onto the plastic bubble (not the card board), then use a few clothespins (or something of the like, you don't want it tight enough that it'll "dent" the cardboard) to hold it in place while it dries.

This won't fix the resell value (it's not a perfect fix and a hard-core fan will probably be able to notice unless you do a really, really good job at it), but it'll look good enough collection-wise.

"Aleen's clear gel tacky glue" found at hobby shops. You had the right idea with the toothpick, but you need the right glue to prevent "fogging" or "hazing".

Awesome! I used to make puppets and used Aleen's glue a lot! I will try it and let you know

Loc-Tite "super glue" is effective, clear, quick-drying, and comes in a nice dispenser with a thin/narrow nozzle that can easily be aimed between the cardboard and the plastic.

Only advantage Aleen's has is that it's not instant...meaning if you are a little off with lining up a white speck, you can slide the plastic bubble around until you get it perfectly matched up to the way it used to be - without stressing over how much time you are taking.

Thanks guys, this is really helpful, I don't think I could re sell them unless we really needed the money in the future. I'm not against it at all, it's just I get attached to these things, like my Pokemon cards. Also like finding Mr. Gold in those blind minifigure lego packs. It's tons of money on eBay but not many people will ever have one. Again, not against people who sell them later on, I'd do it if I could haha, just a personal feeling I'm sharing lol.

I'm not sure how great that super glue is, but I've always found that using a hair dryer can help speed up the process a bit.

I fooled around with some hot glue and a hair dryer when I made my Glow in the Dark Boomer a while back.

Silicone clear works perfectly for resealing the packaging that comes apart.

I believe Shelly is talking about clear silicone caulk.

Yes--sorry--silicone clear hmmm didn't know it was called caulk but I got it at the hardware store and it dries exactly like like what is normally used--and it is easy to work with.

Can I be the voice of reason here,
Resealing Gaming and collectible items is a terrible TERRIBLE TERRIBLE practice.
Just like making Fake Reproductions of expensive valuable items and trying to pass them off as real.

How am I to tell that you re-sealed that figure ten years down the line when you sell it on EBay.

Trust me I come from various collecting hobies where people own 13 copies of one game simply becuse

This one says "Nintendo"
This one says "Nintento(r)"
This one "Nintendo*tm*"
This one has a round seal
This one Oval
This box has a hang tab
This box not
This one has 5 Screws
This one 3
This one has a Famicom Adaptor inside
This one has an upside down label.

Etc etc.

Reasealed product is bad for everyone's collecting hobby.

Disagree. I get that a buyer wants some confidence that the product he's buying has never been opened. I get that we don't want collectors taking a figure out of the box and trying to put it back in. However, if I have a rare Skylander where the backing is coming through no fault of my own, I have no qualms about resealing. The figure is in the original packaging and never been opened and I'd like t keep it that way. I don't see how anyone is cheated in this case.

Yeah and if the seller is honest and says that the package was coming undone and they wanted to reseal it that's ok with me. But where are you getting the idea that I'm selling this on eBay? I want to reseal this for myself, it's just hanging on.

I don't think the problem is that you are selling it on EBay ... now. His point is ten years down the road, possibly even by someone else you sell it to, or that they sell it to - while you might be honest, who knows if someone down the road has your morals on this. It's an opened figure, thereby decreasing its value to a collector. However, it Is a bit silly, but that sort of thing is very important to the hardcore collector, so I can respect it somewhat.
