For anyone who thinks I'm lying about my previous experience at the last GameStop/Skylanders event, here's a quote from a post I made the day of the event last year.

Whelp, I believe I set my expectations low for this event, but by what I'm reading it might not be low enough. I work all day (11am to 11pm) Saturday and Sunday so I'm not able to actually attend the event. I am, however, sending my mother, with my son, to buy the Tower of Time adventure pack. I haven't picked it up until now because I wasn't really sure if I wanted it or not, but if I can get it at a reasonable price, and my son can pick out his favorite sidekick, I'd call that a win. Just about everywhere I've looked still has the adventure pack in stock, although I haven't been to any game stop since before Christmas.

Are my expectations for this unrealistic? Should I even bother asking my mother to drag my son to this event or is it really just going to be a waste of time and disappointment once he gets excited to go to a "skylander event" (which I haven't told him about yet.)

I wonder if Gamestop would just take a portal for free. I have the one that came with Giants and have no use for it. I was going to sell it on Ebay but they only go for what it would cost to ship.

I wouldn't see why not.

Give it to someone at the event who is trying to trade their portals in. Maybe they can get another $10 out of it toward their Skylanders hay day.

My Gamestop in GA had at least some of Wave 3 today. I don't know who all they had because my sister stopped by. My nephew only needed Rubble Rouser and Spy Rise as I already got him SWI, Stinkbomb, etc.

They definitely had the Swappers. I think they had SWI and A. Crossbow too. No idea about LC because I didn't mention them to her.

We will see what GS has to offer shortly. I had to call several stores tonight before I found one that got sidekicks in for tomorrow's event.

I hate gamestop.....Thats why i dont have polar whirlwind or dark edition. They are a joke. I wont be wasting my time there. That is all!!

I will post ASAP as soon as I get my hands (hopefully) on the figures. I chose to go the the GameStop that was in the Mall just because it sounded like he knew a little more even though he didn't seem to want to budge on the using the Dark Edition towards getting the minis thing. But I'll be there before they open and I'll post pics if you'd like, even though the GS I decided not to go to has way more stock but whatever, I just want to get the minis and I wish everyone here luck in finding them or getting your deals on starter packs or accessories or whatever the reason your going. Got my SideKicks when Frito Lays had the promo. Don't need them. Already have all the latest releases so I cant see my self spending $20 on a duplicate.

Well my DM and GM both are Skylanders people. When i was in last night again just to make sure they were shaking their heads. GS just wants to get rid of the overstock they have so they can get wave 3 out. some stores who have higher traffic MIGHT have some wave 3 but most do not because GS has made themselves the 3rd stop behind TRU and Target for Skylanders people. The only reason i Pre-Order from there is the Dark Edition. (and i get a discount lol) But this is embarassing, as someone who enjoys his part time job at GS i apologize. its just pathetic.

Rather than just give it away, you could always try customizing it or something. There was a really great snowglobe project posted recently!

REPORT: Gamestop in mall had no Wave 3. They had plenty of other characters and plenty of minis.

Report: Gamestop in Palm Coast was a bust with respect to Wave 3. No wave 3 swappers, lightcores, Arkeyan Crossbow, or Sheep Wreck Island.

My GS had no wave 3 whatsoever. I was happy to see that they got some more Dark Edition bundles. I was able to pick up a dark edition bundle for 360 for $79 , qualifying me for the 4 new sidekicks. Tree Rex looks very nice. They actually gave me 2 posters for both kids. It looked like they had about 10-12 of each sidekick.

Just for done at GS. My GS had one box of wave 3 swappers. That meant there was only 1 Atink Bomb. In order to get the free sidekick you had to do separate 20.00 transactions. I planned to get the Dark Edition but it only got me 1 sidekick I got all 4 sidekicks but had to buy alot more than I wanted. They so scan the sidekicks on your receipt. The poster is the size of a regular piece of paper.

There were about 5 families waiting before opening. They had about 3 of each sidekick, so they didnt get many.

Update: Stopped at another GS and they had no Wave 3 but they had all 8 sidekicks for the 20.00 promo. The second store was also allowing you to get sidekicks for each $20 spent instead of per transaction like the first. However, they were not taking $20 off the Dark Edition. Looks like its scattered what GS allows and doesn't. All in all I got what I wanted and the store employees were very friendly and helpful.

Well I went to the mall GS and I was the only there the whole time even after they opened the doors. The guys was super nice and scanned the figures and said I can get all 4 with the Dark Edition! So I did! They also had the guid for 50% off so $10 and I also picked up the only Disney Infinity Figure I didn't have Francesco. Great awesome day and turnout And yes the Poster is small but perfect size for my desk setup FYI they did have a bunch of the wave 3 Swappers as seen in the second pic. No Wave 3 Cores or Adventure/Battle packs from wave 3 or LC from Wave 3.

there are 3 stink bombs per case, seen a box be opened plus someone posted it somewhere in the forum i think it was 3 sb,3 sr, 3 rr, 1 hoot(fixed catchphrase), 1 magna charge, 1 ????

Ok that means 2 SB must be on hold or gone already.

Interesting tidbit about my local Gamestop Skylanders Day experience:

They had the original 4 sidekicks available as well. (Trigger Snappy, Gill Runt, Terrabyte, Whisper Elf)

We ended up getting Trigger and Gill instead of Mini Jini, since we missed those the first go-round.

So if yer looking for one of those, you might want to give it a try.

No wave 3. Looks like this is a "clear older inventory" type event. Honestly, the minis is a good way to get 'er done. I'll give them that. Glad I held back on a few early on...Had a sense something like this might come up after having nothing to buy last year when it happened (thus why we only had Terrabyte of the first 4).

I got the 3DS starter for $14.63 after promo's and 2 coupons and they let me get two mini's that I don't need. I said keep them for someone else but they insisted I take two so I got a thumpling and min-jinni they had all 8 mini's.....not sure why the photo's sideways meh

Yea mine only had the giants ones. But I was able to get the Dark Edition and a 3ds edition. Unfortunately I came back later to get the 3ds one and ended up them having only one left and it was a broken minjini. It looks like both of the stores I checked out had gotten some of wave 3 in but they had sold out before today.

Went to the closest gamestop (not local)

no wave 3s

traveled another 5 minutes to target
Got LC wham-shell

traveled 2 minutes to best buy
nothing, not even the exclusive sprocket

then traveled another 20 minutes to Toys'r'us
NOT A SINGLE WAVE 3 FIGURE BESIDES LC WHAM-SHELL AND LC COUNTDOWN. Me and someone else separate asked and the guy said others had been calling up about it. Yet they had tons of giants figurines and Spyro's Adventure figures. I found a single one by itself and no others, but I managed to snag this one lonely spyro's adventure Dino Rang.

still... I'm ticked that not even toys r us had them.

the exclusive sprocket will be out tom, some best buys put them out early but he's there in the back, just street dated for 1/12

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I'm glad I read this comment before we left the mall! When I bought the Giants Minis, they said the didn't have that much at all left. I read the above comment and called to see if they had any of the original SideKicks and the said they had plenty of Minis left! So I can back and bought enough to get the four and also I picked up the 3DS Starter pack with volcanic Lava Barf Eruptor! Greatest outcome! I picked up some swappers and other figures to sell or trade for SSA figures

Went to two GameStops, neither had any new stock, so not too many people bought anything. I was able to get a Starter Pack for $45 w/ portal trade-in, along with a couple core figures I didn't have. I had a $5 off certificate, so it came out to $60. I was hoping to hit $80, but they just didn't have anything else that I needed, not even accessories. So I got all except Thumpling. Oh well, maybe next time.

This is pretty nice. My Gamestop did not allow me to purchase the guide at 50%. I am not sure why. He rang it up and it said that it was full price.

Better than I expected from Gamestop today. Got all 4 Giants sidekicks (neither one of my primary stores had any of the SA sidekicks left) So picked up both the 3DS games that we've had been putting off for awhile now. $20 off the SF starter-pack, $10 trade in for an old portal, plus my police discount.

Oh man I forgot to check if they honored my Dads Military Discount, probably not but yeah the Guides they had were the soft cover which was $10 and a tiny bent on the top left corner page, and the hardcover which was still shrink wrapped for I think 17.99 or half off of whatever it was. It is technically an accessory so he should of had it with the 50% off sticker.

My local GS didn't have any wave 3. I was the very first person there. Came over a few minutes before 10am and watched the clock go to 10 outside. There were a few families that came in too. A couple dads came in looking for Stink Bomb and looked disappointed. I don't blame them. The employees said they were upset too. They were told they would get more figs today and they haven't received any in WEEKS! The honored the letter of the promo: A Sidekick for every $20 you spend. Got an extra Starter (mostly for regular Wash Buckler and Blast Zone) at that nice reduced cost. Traded in my SSA portal to get $10 off, as well as trading in an older game. Got a few extras to get the rest of the Sidekicks after that. So now I have a second set of Giants Sidekicks. Too bad they didn't have the SSA ones, but it's all good in the end.

Sounds like Gamestop was relatively better prepared this go round. Must've been an accident.

After confirming with employees the day before that it WOULD work, buying the Dark Edition didn't not get all 4 minis as the employee I spoke to said it's one per transaction and one per customer because he only had a limited amount... bought Fiery Forge there and went to a second Gamestop.

Second GameStop had no wave 3, just like the first Gamestop, also he said buying Dark Edition wouldn't work. Ended up buying 4 core characters... but here's the kicker. 2 cores come out to $19.98 and I needed to spend $20 to get the mini and it wouldn't ring up properly. He kept playing the 'Sorry, this is the way it is, I can't do anything about it.' card. I asked I could just buy something really cheap non-Skylander on the transaction to put me over 20 bucks and that ended up working... so I ended up buying some used Gamecube games for 50 cents on each transaction to get the minis... super annoying. So if anyone is looking for a few copies of All-Star Baseball 2003 for the Gamecube, I'm your man.

Looks like you got screwed, because I got multiple sidekicks in a single transaction. I don't know how many your store got total, but it clearly worked for them to scan more than one at a time. I'd call their customer service on Monday.

Yea the first thing I purchased was a dark edition and even with the 30 off I still got all 4 sidekicks in one purchase.

Yup, I got the Dark Edition for $20 off which actually came to $79 but I still got the four giants SideKicks in one Transaction. The second run where I bought a bunch of figures, a triple pack and the 3DS Swap Force pack (on sale) in one transaction and got the four Spyros Adventures Sidekicks. So obviously you have some pretty lazy employees near you and I'm sorry you had a bad expierence. You should call around tomorrow to see if any other GameStops have extras left over. But I did see any leftover Minis will need a $30 purchase minimum after Saturday (today) while supplies last of course. My GameStop guy couldn't of been more awesome, but I did notice I spent about $20 more than I could of on the second transaction because I wasn't paying attention :/ This teaches me to pay very close attention to the next Frito-Lay mail order contest thingy...

I seriously doubt that if there was no problem ringing it up that way in other stores, that somehow it was special in a select few. That sounds like they were told not to let people get more per transaction by the manager. Maybe they need to make it crystal clear what they intend so that managers will know that it's this one way? But then, They might not have any left for other customers. So it's a problem either way. I know personally that if they had actually had wave 3 cores there, I would've gotten them, as well as the packs and the Starter. Let's see....if the 5 cores are 9.99 apiece, that's 49.95+ the starter with all the discounting reduced to $40.79+ 49.99 for Shep wreck and Arkeyan Xbow (are they 24.99 there?)=140.72+ the 9.5% tax (thanks WA!! ) = grand total of I think 154.088 or 154.09. I would've grabbed a storage case to even it out after hearing the subtotal lol, so tack that onto the 140.72 and add tax. Adventure case 9.99. 150.71 + tax=165.027 or 165.03 (they always round up!). So yeah. 2 sets of Sidekicks in one transaction. I would've done that, and you can imagine how few they'd have after that.

I only wanted to get more Sidekicks to trade though. Some people don't even care about the Sidekicks too. But if they'd had the newest waves, they'd have got rid of them that much faster. Which suggests that the stores might honestly have been just as upset as we were that they weren't in.

I think the ad was pretty clear on what the offer was. Spend $20, get a sidekick. Not get a sidekick for every $20 spent.

Some stores allowed it to go through in one transaction - and that was nice of them. But, it wasn't what was advertised. And here on DarkSpyro, people go ape**** when stores don't follow through with what is advertized 100% (even when it isn't actually in the ad)...

Hmm. My local Gamestop said "Get a Sidekick for every $20 you spend". How very interesting. They sound the same, but one implies a minimum purchase amount. It still doesn't sound like you had to do separate transactions in either case. It also didn't say "limit one per transaction", which would've made it clear if they had wanted to cap the amount you got in each. I'd imagine that those who are particularly savvy about proper word usage in gaming rules would have a nice little discussion on the proper interpretation of this.

It was different from store to store. The first store I went to only gave you 1 per transaction. The second store gave you one sidekick for every $20 you spent.

Yeah, definitely a bunch of conflicting stories on here showing that many Gamestop employees probably needed to "guess" how the promo would work if the system wasn't supporting it correctly.

In my case, the store was pretty much bare of any "relevant" figures - nothing but commons from Wave 1, which is pretty much what I expected.

Was only going there to get a Starter Pack for someone who missed the Black Friday Walmart special. Oddly, even with the Portal Trade-In Discount they still gave me three Sidekicks for the purchase. (I figured it would only be two because the discounted price was barely over $40, or one if it was limited to one per item as others had experienced.)

Each sidekick still has the $999.99 "generic not for sale default" price tag on the wrapper. Somehow I suspect if I went back, said I lost the receipt and asked for $3,000 in store credit they MIGHT look at me funny.

I went to two of my local Gamestops, and they both had a healthy selection of the Series 1 and Series 2 Sidekicks. The only major downside was no Wave 3 to purchase, and we had almost all of what they had stocked to purchase. We were able to get a lightcore Flashwing and strategy guide from the first one for Barkley, and the second store we got a carrying case and Blizzard Chill for Gill Runt. If I had more cash to spare I would have tried for the Dark Edition, but even if we turned in our SSA portal, would have been too much for us to spend, sadly.

If they had the wave 3 swappers, I was all prepped to get them with my $10 off on each...Ahh well.
