well, i agree, i bought at least 14 bags when i first saw them 3 days before the expiration of the sweepstakes, and did not win. this guy won 12, and selling it too overpriced, he's nuts. i bought mine for $55.00 free shipping anyway. which i'm not happy, do they think we have cash cows, or money trees??? well no, we can't keep on feeding them scalpers $$$ because they were lucky to steal toys from little kids and other people. sure, i sold a extra character i got and sold it for just $5.00 more then retail. a good ebay price would be maybe be up to $10.00 more with most items today, * not compatible with vintage items though, for sure. * i work hard for my money and i feel shameful that i spent that much on a toy and fed that person a cash buffet.

I wouldn't even bother trying to bid for this.. Even though it looks real, it could be fake.

Based on what I've seen...it wouldn't take someone with much effort to stick it inside any old Cynder case and call it new...think about it.

I'd be TOTALLY fine buying used Giants chase figures...because they figured it out with the in game notation. The SSA with the gold, silver stuff is a bit dicey.

@Matteomax while I agree I have an opened one and it looks very legit, has similar wear on the eye that mine has and silver scratches can happen on her as she's made out of silver material

The shading also looks pretty legit

Best way to tell would be to ask for a pic of the bottom side, with a light shining on it, if it's legit the outer rim of it will be shiny silver.

just for US buyers there will be still alot of overseas buyers on this one Best Buy does not ship internationally and the Canada store is not even getting it

Look at the price. They're selling for nowhere near the amount he wants.

Yea got to remember you can't sell them for retail because between eBay fees of 10% on final value fee once it sales and some auctions are still charged insertion fees and some list free shipping but that is because they have to add it to the price so something that is 9.99 retail would go for no less than 17.99 on eBay simply because 9.99 cost of item plus 1.79 for fvf, plus 4 for shipping that is 15.78 plus PayPal fee now it is at 16 so the seller only makes roughly $2 on it and that does not count his time and gas getting it.

Assuming that because there are "x" developers so there are that same number of figures is just that--an assumption. The people I spoke to and got them from were employees but not developers. Clearly they are rare. Clearly they arent supposed to be sold. I have seen 5 or so eBay listings for Gold Firekraken's & several Snowderdash's that Activision had taken down.
I hope this metallic shroomboom is one we can buy retail. I messaged the eBay shroomboom seller yesterday and he said that he got it from his "source" and he thinks it may be a prototype and he is "sure it is authentic. " Lol. So that seller doesn't know the answer.

I've heard rumors that he's coming out later like the Metallic Gill Grunt, but I'll be kind of annoyed if he doesn't because they teased him on Boomcast. If you're going to tease this one it would just suck if it's one of the employee ones and none of us can actually get it, kind of mean.

Acti are trying to take measures to stop the reselling of employee and dev figures which may be why the price of them is so high. The bottom of Snowderdash even says "NOT FOR RESALE" in place of any barcode.

They have actually been taking down auctions of the employee figures?! I'd really like to know what legal basis they have for that.

I don't have any intentions of buying one of the figures so I have no stake in it, but they don't actually have the right to restrict sale of them. They are a gift to employees. What the employee does with it after that is entirely within the discretion of the employee.

Unless the employment contract explicitly forbids selling them, which is technically possible but unlikely, Activision has no leg to stand on. "Not for resale" on the package does not forbid any individual from selling thier own possessions.

All you need to do is to go buy a "rare" variant now...wait a year when they've announced a general offering similar to Green Gilly...and watch yourself lose 99% of your value. That will solve the disease quite nicely. I'm cured.

Sorry, but once a gift has been "gifted"...they can't tell you what to do with it. If all of them wanted to take all 100 of them and create a bonfire and put it on youtube...that's their right...it's their property.

Definitely wait and be patient. from what I've seen, values for these ALWAYS go down...and if there's a general availability of them, your investment won't be in the crosshairs. Take it from someone who's learned that lesson.

The only ones I have seen taking down are the ones that show the bottom in a picture, that clearly states not for resale then Ebay has the right to take it down. I had something taken down for that reason but relisted it without that picture and was fine. I think as long as you don't publish it with the not for resale picture or say that it has a not for resale on it there is nothing that can be done.

Thanks for the heads-up. I reported this listing for counterfeit/replica selling. A lot more people will also need to report it for the same thing if you actually want eBay to do something about the listing, though.

Also, Matteomax ... I have to call you out on this: weren't you were one of the people defending a certain user here a month or so ago when he listed a "custom painted" Skylanders variant replica on eBay? If so, you're being hypocritical.

Lightning Rod is an OBVIOUS fake (You can see the white at the bottom of the base), and the Rip Tide is NOT a prototype.

And look at that; he lists that the L-Rod is a custom in the description.. Another reason that the auction should be removed.

Can someone report it?

Thanks for the heads-up. I reported this listing for counterfeit/replica selling. A lot more people will also need to report it for the same thing if you actually want eBay to do something about the listing, though.

Also, Matteomax ... I have to call you out on this: weren't you were one of the people defending a certain user here a month or so ago when he listed a "custom painted" Skylanders variant replica on eBay? If so, you're being hypocritical.

Not again..

At least the custom green variants were actually listed as customs. This one only mentions it in the description.

you're splitting hairs, Matteo.

The only reason I brought this up is for you to see that maybe, just maybe, you were acting in a biased fashion during that whole debate about Skylanderex's eBay listings for counterfeit Skylanders.

Counterfeit is counterfeit. Replicas are replicas. It shouldn't matter who created them, whether it was your best friend or a total stranger. Just something to consider.
