Yesterday the TRU near me didn't have any of the Wave 3 figures out, but they did have plenty of Sheep Wreck Island.

Finally, the Toys R Us near me (Roseville, CA) hooked me up. They had everything on my list including Sheep Wreck Island and Arkeyan Crossbow. She said last night, around 5pm, that they just put out their new stock that morning. So, later then some TRU, but earlier then others I assume.

OH and TRU has buy 3 for $35 on the swap characters. So 35 instead of ~51. Good deal. Nothing else I got had any deals though.

Scored a lightcore Countdown and Whamshell. Also picked up Sheepwreck and the battle pack. The Toys I hit only got two each of Sheep Wreck and Battle pack. Plenty of lightcores and the wave 3 swappers though.

Mine had plenty of the battle pack, but I didn't see any SWI. 4 or 5 each of LC Countdown and LC Whammy

I doubt it on the only getting two. Cases of the Battle Pack and Adventure Pack are six of them, and only them in a case. The boxes look smallish because they are packed in tight. Unless they repackaged them at the warehouse to break them down for smaller stores.

Went to the TRU in Philly on Aramingo Ave yesterday (1/8) and got the last of the new swappers. I asked the TRU guy if I really got the last one and he said he thought so, take it for what it's worth. There were no more on the shelf front or back, at least.

They had plenty of lightcore countdown and whamshell but no sheepwreck islands out/left.

A young kid and his dad came into my store today looking for some Skylanders, one of which was Thumpback. We had no more left on the shelf. The kid asked me if I have anymore. I offered to take a look for him no problem, knowing for a fact that we had many boxes of Giants left in overstock. I open up the box and there is the Purple Eye-Brawl. I handed the kid the Thumpback and I put Eye-Brawl on the side for myself. I don't see how I did absolutely anything wrong here in this situation. I saw something that I wanted to purchase and I did. Just because it is worth a lot of money does not make me a "scumbag". This is a perk of working at a retail store like this. Am I a scalper? No. Will this be on Ebay? No. I am a collector and player just like all of you.

The reason I got this job in the first place was to help pay for my hobbies, which of course includes Skylanders. Whenever we get a new figure in I always take one and put it aside for myself. Why go hunting if I have the product in my hand? I'm not going to buy say every Darklight Crypt Adventure Pack we have (and trust me, we have) and put them on Ebay. I already own one for myself and that is good enough for me. I started as a player and collector and THEN became an employee, unlike others at other stores who have realized how big this franchise is AFTER working at said store and then selling figures on the side. Would it have made any of you feel better if I had put the figure on the shelf, clocked out, bought it, and then clock back in? It is the exact same thing. Let it go people. It is not a big deal.

I don't have to give you all inside information about releases and such. I go out of my way to help you all just as I do to anyone who comes into my store asking about Skylanders or Disney Infinity. That is my job. Not only that, but as a fellow player and collector I know how frustrating this game can be sometimes when looking for something. I go out of my way, above and beyond really, to take pictures of the products and to post news. Do I have to do this? Nope. Do I want to? Yes. But if anyone here continues to call me a "scumbag" or accuse me of scalping or anything like that, I will no longer help this forum when it comes to future Skylanders. I hope I made myself very clear on the matter.

PS: I'm a guy lol...

Putting an item aside without giving someone who is actually shopping a chance to buy it is, in fact, being a scumbag.
We have a rule in Target that an item has to be on the floor for at least 15 minutes before an employee can buy it.
It's punishable by termination if you are caught.

Do I care that you bought it without giving someone else a chance? No. Are you a scumbag? Yes.
You also didn't really tell anyone anything they didn't already know. Reports were going around since Tuesday afternoon about finding the rest of Wave 3 in ToysRus, INCLUDING the lightcores and Sheep Wreck.
So I will not think of you as anything other than a scumbag because that's what you are.

Wow. DutRank and I agree on something. I have a big problem with employees grabbing rare items just because they have the opportunity to open the box before any customers can see the contents. I'm not a collector (other than wanting the "regular" figs, but if I were this is the kind of thing that makes it almost impossible to get the chase variants without paying out your @$$.

I'll jump in on this one. I would probably feel different if he was trying to sell this on eBay. Is he a scumbag? No. Could he have maybe put it out, yeah.

As far as dutrank and it has to be on the floor for 15 minutes. Pretty easy way around that. Let me put it over here behind these TV's where no one will find it. Easy way around that.

I'm pretty sure management would consider deception trying to skirt the 15 minute rule is probably a fireable offense as well. I doubt they are running around with stopwatches monitoring this. Most likely you would get busted getting something rung up that hasn't been seen out or you are recorded on security footage.

Personally, I don't really mind if employees get first dibs, as long as they aren't hoarding whole shipments. If you collect them, and say hey that's one I want while unpacking then fine. It gets a little hairy when you consider what many do with them. If you are skimming shipments for Ebay profit on the side, then Scumbag. If you collect Skylanders and pull one you are going to keep, then Not Scumbag. It also depends on the frequency, yanking figures out every time a box comes in versus a one time/rare thing. Personal opinion though.

The fifteen minute ON A PEG rule sounds like a good idea, with manager discretion on special cases.

The point I was trying to make is you will always have a way around it. From what we know did Trex keep more than that one? No. Is he going to sell it on eBay? My guy feeling says no. I wouldn't call him a scumbag.

Gee, you guys are harsh.

I'm happy to be first in line with my torch and pitchfork when dealing with scalpers, but a fan buying one chase figure for personal use does not a scalper make.

I have never even SEEN, in person, a chase variant of any kind. I'd love to and I always look. We all get frustrated when others find things that we want and can't get, but I also would never trade my job for a retail one, especially at a big box toy store. I certainly get annoyed and a little jealous of some of the extremely spoiled kids on these forums who get anything they want (mom and dad paying hundreds of dollars for employee exclusive figures, etc.). That is no reason for me to resort to personal attacks and name calling.

So--I hate this because it illustrates why it is next to impossible for regular people--non employees--to ever find one. That being said--if any of us Dark Spyro people---worked there--would you buy it if you found it first? I have to admit that if i am being honest, it'd be hard to pass up. Now I'd make sure it was ok with management but the point is still the same. Another thing--keeping it or selling it doesn't make it different. The issue is exactly the same--is it fair for employees to "cherry pick" the stock? We may feel better because he/she is a collector and not a "scalper," but it's still the same.
As discussed earlier this is clearly not the stores intended process for inventory--employees go thru and pick what they want and THEN put it on the shelves for their customers. But are they policing this? Of course not. My opinion is that I would like a better chance at finding one. But I wouldn't call anyone names.

And you DutRank are a scumbag for even bringing this all back up again. See everyone? I called it. Some members wouldn't be cool with what I bought legally and fairly. Shocker. I am sooooo sorry that Toys R Us doesn't have a 15 minute rule. Every retail store is different with different rules and regulations. Toys R Us treats their staff as if they were a regular customer. The only rule is that we can't buy anything early. My manager is the one who even rung me up for the purchase. You think the staff at these places didn't put aside a PS4 or Xbox One for themselves? Of course they did. It is the same exact thing.

And as a matter of fact, maybe you all knew about these at Toys R Us but I was the first one to post about the Corelanders coming to TRU back in December with proof which established my reputation here. What I am doing is trying to help customers as well as all of you.

This is the first real chase variant that I have ever seen in person. Of course I bought it. I'm a collector and player, NOT A SCALPER! I AM NOT GOING TO BE SELLING IT! So why don't you guys just hop off the hate train and let's get back on topic here.

You guys have your own opinion and I have mine. If you think it's okay for an employee to swipe a special figure before it's even touched a peg then I feel bad for you. Also, no one is saying this guy is a scalper. If he is keeping the figure then cool. But what if that kid was looking for Eyebrawl and not Thumpback? Do you honestly think this guy would have given him the variant or picked out the normal Eyebrawl if there was one from the box?

AMEN. These are toys meant for CHILDREN. ONLY reason I watch for them is my 7 year old. Otherwise I could care less about these things. I took a P/T job at TRU just to have a shot at maybe finding a variant but I had no luck. As long as he's not posting it on ebay I see no problem with buying it. It's the scalpers that we all have issues with.

I found LC Wham Shell and LC Countdown as well the the ACB Battle back at lunch in TX. NO SWI though.

Eh, I find things are much easier if you just plain forget these chase variants even exist. Then you don't get upset you never find one or if a poorly paid retail employee that puts up with all of us sending them to the back all the time to find some figure, or getting mad that their ad isn't followed TO THE LETTER finds one and buys it.

Retail jobs generally suck. Low pay, crappy hours, minimal benefits, dealing with rude customers far more often than nice ones.
Why would you feel bad for me, if I allowed you as a Target employee to have first pick of the litter?

And the "think of the kids" thing is kinda ridiculous. Of course he would give the kid the regular Eye Brawl and not the chase. Kids, for the most part, don't give a crap about chase variants. Oh sure they go cool, I want it, I want to open it. But then they go hey I want to play with the one that looks like the guy in the game. Every non-in game variant we have sits unused in their case, usually at a very low level. Chase variants are for the collectors.

...more serious though. I've seen kids look at the chase figures before and go "ugly", or "ew". Sometimes kids actually want the figure to...ya know... look like the character. Rather that some all Gold/Silver/Blue/GITD/Disco/Plaid variant. The collectors are the ones that care about the chase variants for the most part. The kids arent the ones paying hundreds of bucks for them on ebay, and the parents sure as hell arent paying that kind of money so little Jimmie can rip it out of the box and leave it out in the rain by accident.

The lady in front of me got one of each. She, for whatever reason, had put this Toys on hold from setting them out. I saw she was going to purchase them so I said hey do you have any more. He pulled one of each out for me. A grumpy lady saw me buying and asked if there were any left and the kid said no. She was legitimately pissed at the kid because he wouldnt call another Toys and put a hold on some for her. She stormed off cussing and I walked out laughing. So I don't know what the box break down was but at this store, which isnt my usually store, only got two each apparently.

I'll grant you I don't have in depth polling and statistics on this. All I can offer is my sons and their large group of friends that love Skylanders. Of course, they all love to see the variants, and they want them open to play with them. But, I can tell you that the non in-game ones I've gotten sit untouched after that initial excitement. I get them mainly for myself and to collect. I've asked them why they don't play them and the answer is mainly they want to play the ones that look like that in the game. The solid colors are boring to them, and the figure interaction is a big deal. They like the feeling that the character itself is loading into the game and not just some totem is triggering it (which it is anyways, but kids have good imagination).

If I were to give him a Purple Eye Brawl, he would love it. He loved Pumpkin Eye Brawl. But, Pumpkin Eye Brawl is still level one. When he uses Eye Brawl it is always the regular one. If I were to find a chase variant, I would get it - but I think it would be wasted on my sons, and would probably sell it to someone who would value it. While I can stomach the cost of a metal Sprocket (which will obviously not be in-game) for collection purposes, a chase variant is too valuable to pop open just to look at. My personal line is drawn there.

You know what, I'm going to agree that Trex is perfectly fine with what he did and I stand by him. We work retail, we stock the items, we know what comes down the pike. Out of my whole department I'm the only one that collects these and the only one that'd even know what I'm looking at if one did come out of a box. And you know what? I'd bloody well buy it the moment it did, and I've never seen one come down the pike.

But even if one or ten came in on boxes out of the blue, guess what? I see them, and if I need them, I'd buy them. There's a HUGE difference between people buying things to scalp, and people buying things they happen across and want in their collections. You want to equate the two you're just being silly.

I'm gonna have to agree that there is absolutely nothing wrong with employees buying what they want. As a 16 year veteran of retail, we find perks that make the job more worthwhile. Sure, grabbing the hot items for scalping is morally wrong, but will it ever stop? No. And whining about it on an internet forum isn't going to bring down karmic wrath any time soon either.

By the way, it was a TRU employee that pulled a crystal Stealth Elf out of a shipment, purchased it, and GAVE it to my children because he knew we would appreciate it.

Thanks for confirming. I have 5 TRUs within a 30 minute drive, so I'll check them all out this weekend. Well wed drove around to 5 tru out eastern long island. Found 2 lc whamshells and 1 lc countdown, 4 camo battle packs and nothing else. Yesturday while out in valley stream i found at first 1 sheep wreck island and the rest of the wave 3 swappers i didnt get at target (now i have finally a spy rise, my son a rumble rouser and my brother stink bomb as that is how we divided it up) My wife also got her wave 3 swappers.
i went off to the back electronics and nadda on sheep, then as i was leaving i noticed off by the action figures a few giants games and cases and in between them 10 sheep wreck islands!!! So i got the 4 i needed total and left...$300 later grrr.

lc here were 15.49 a piece, battle packs were 27.99. at least the swappers were 3 for $35.

I'm gonna have to side with Trexroarr on this one. I look at it a little differently. I don't think him grabbing one and buying it when he opened the box as being bad. Now I would have to say that if he goes into backroom everyday regardless if he's working or not and opens every box looking for them and buys them when he sees them as being wrong though. If he asks his buddy to look for them when they stock and to put them back is also wrong, but if he just stocks the shelves when they need stocked or when someones ask for something not on the shelf and find one I see nothing wrong with it if the customer doesn't ask for it. If the customer asked for thumpback, in this case, and you open the box and he sees the purple eye brawl and asks for both then you need to give the customer both, but if the customer doesn't ask then I see no problem putting it aside and taking a break and buying it. It was part of him doing his job. I just find it wrong if its the other way around where you have the stock boy checking every single box and grabbing all of the variants or popular ones because he knows he can make money off them.

Just got back from TRU in Toledo, OH. They had lots of everything from Wave 3 except Dune Bug. The racks were filled with the new battle/adventure packs.

I beleive if you work in retail and you open a box and find the figure you can buy it. if your going thru stock everyday looking and pulling out every variant you see and hording them for yourself that is different. If you pulled thump out and the customer saw eyebrawl and wanted it then you have to sale it. otherwise its the employees. I see nothing wrong with this and honestly most tru pay employees 8-9 an hr to deal with crazy customers, if one skylander fan finds a variant and enjoys the game let them have it. if employees are pulling them to sell them on the side then im against it. Like when the ps4 came out if they bought 1-5 to sell on ebay then no, if they bought one on day one at opening then fine by me. Im ok with letting them have this little perk for what they make an hr. Id rather have this over them trying to steal stuff etc.

btw does tru hire part time, like could i work there one day a week? I wouldnt mind the extra money/ discount and i enjoy helping ppl with skylanders etc but i cant work much more then that as i already have 2 fulltime jobs.

Yea just checked my local TRU they had plenty of Wave 3 swappers and lightcores. But they only had one Battle Pack and no Sheep Wreck to be seen. But they do have a huge supply of 3 packs out so they still might have them but as I've already ordered them I wasn't worried. I kinda hid away a couple pairs of lightcores so I can go back and get them if anyone has a good sale coming up in the next couple weeks. I'm not really super desperate to get them since they are both a $1 over regular price and the TRU has the highest sales tax of most stores that I buy at.

All basic figures from first 4 games and I've stopped counting.

My local TRU had sold out of Sheep Wreck and Arkeyan Crossbow and is almost out of Swappers...only thing left is the lightcores. Oddly enough Triple Pack A/B and Tower of Time is there stocked to the hilt. Most other Wave 1/2 is almost barren...odd time at TRU as they have been well stocked at other times.

Luckily my stuff was saved by one of my good guys here and I was good to go.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed.

I haven't seen much of wave 1 corelanders recently anywhere. Wave 2 is fully stocked, with wave 3 coming.

Putting an item aside without giving someone who is actually shopping a chance to buy it is, in fact, being a scumbag.

So is it a fact or an opinion? Why would you feel bad for someone who saw it differently (whether fact or opinion) then you do? Are predicting bad is going to happen to them? Are you assuming that their life must be worse then yours in some way? I can understand why you'd like people that see it the way you do and/or dislike those that don't, but I don't get the sympathy.

Check out what this guy lucked into tonight! I was so happy to find these three characters at TRU tonight. Stink Bomb was hidden in the back of Giants figures and Rubble Rouser was laying on one of the shelves. It looked like someone had grabbed RR and then later decided not to get him. I was lucky enough to get there in time. A few different customers were complaining about the lack of those characters. However, they did have plenty of Spy Rise on the pegs. I'd say at least 5-10.
