Silver Bullet Sprocket

Until there is a real name for this I am dubbing it Military Sprocket. The silver and green strike me as Army colors, and 2014 is the 100th anniversary of The First World War.

Bullet Silver Sprocket rolls of the tongue better I think lol.

I still like the Silver bullet name, just to stick it to Disney Infinity having the Lone Ranger character.

I think it looks more platinum, which is better than Gold, so maybe that's what they're going for, although the tank (which was gold before) is now a greenish color and not the platinum. This may be a cool collector's thing, but unless I don't care for another Sprocket, and it's not an in-game variant (although, I guess, it can show up as a special).

How to completely destroy the excitement of a new variant? Keep it totally secret until three days before it comes out, then put it up for pre-order with a release date.

We need far more randomness, vague release windows, figures that are street dated accidentally put out and a month of lead time for people to make up a dozen rumor threads up in here.

It's ironic that everything we all seem to hate about store exclusive variants seems to be the things that generate the most excitement and discussion. Here we have one that pops up out of the blue, bang pre-order, done and we move on to the next thing immediately. One has to wonder if the franchise would be nearly as popular if we had predictability and less hunting.

This was a huge surprise. Best Buy hasn't had an exclusive since Volcanic Vault came out.

They were known as one of the worst stores to get Skylanders at, but they've been doing so much better now. GameStop seems to be falling apart. Same with Walmart.

defpally, I hope you're being sarcastic(it's really hard to tell in writing over the Internet, sorry, and if you are just take this post as an "I agree"). Announcing it sooner (I'd say one week before it releases) would be nice so people know, but this is better than having to search everything in the hope that you find one instead of going on eBay for it, and it's a nice treat for the loyal customers to have a variant that's "easy" to get once in a while so they have something "special".

Since this variant is an easy to get store exclusive that's just retail price, nothing more, no "buy bundle to get this" rubbish, it also means eBay prices for it won't be hundreds for those in other countries without Best Buy or those who miss it and it also means it's pretty easy to get one for the standard price (+shipping) if you just have a friend in the US who can ship one over. In fact my only gripe is that they never release these "easy variants" in other countries. (Well, they had Glow Rider, but he disappeared really quickly and never came back from my experience, plus when he first came out you were forced to buy a starter to get him- I bought the starter at JB expecting him to not come out again and then discovered he was just a regular store exclusive in the UK and over here a couple of months afterwards would come out at K-Mart.)

Also, while this "fast announcement" may mean that people don't have a lot of time to order it and may miss out on it... I keep hearing people are still seeing Red Drills and Glow Booms about so I think this one will stay floating around later too.

I love Sprocket so I'm definetly getting this, one of my friends is buying one for me.

I've always thought that Chase was any variation that was intentionally made by the manufacturer, and a variant was an unintentional variation (i.e. errors made in the factory). Chase Variant would then be an intentional variation that also had a factory error.

But I've seen the terms used interchangeably here, so I figured that this community didn't differentiate. But I guess there is a difference, it just differs from my understanding of the terms. Is there an official glossary of terms for the Skylanders community?

Yes, sarcastic, a little. But honest, too. I think back to some of these things as it would often be better if people had LESS information at times. Would people have freaked out as badly at Target had we never known at all about the ad until the day it came out (yeah, people would have still been upset, but we had a full month of people gearing up for it). Jolly Bumble Blast had threads for a couple weeks, with people going nuts over them being street dated and being put out by accident, then TRU not getting them in at some stores. And I could name several other times as well where early info caused people to be mad when things didn't turn out exactly as they expected.

More information IS good, if you can handle it. This isn't just about Skylanders, I see this happen elsewhere as well. My neighborhood's Facebook group is a bunch of people that freak the heck out over some of the most mundane things. They found an abandoned car some kids had used for a joy ride at the front by the entrance, and we had someone suggest we make our community "gated" with security guards "for the safety of our kids". We had some kids vandalize the pool and someone said the neighborhood was "under assault by hoodlums". There is absolutely nothing different about our neighborhood than any other of that relative size, or others that I grew up in. The difference is that people are now exposed to every single snippet of bad stuff that happens. It isn't that things like this don't happen in neighborhoods they have lived in before or grew up in - the problem is they simply DID NOT KNOW ABOUT IT. To quote Agent K from Men in Black:

A chase variant is one that is randomly found in a case or regular versions (i.e. Purple Eye Brawl). It's usually one per so many cases and difficult to find unless you're lucky to find a store that got that case in and get it before anyone else does. They're called chase variants, because you have to chase after them. A variant that comes shipped in their own case (i.e. Jade Flashwing, Molten Hot Dog, Nitro Magna Charge, etc.) is considered just that...a variant. Unintentional variants are just considered errors and not an official variant. This is the same terminology that has been used for years with all kinds of collectibles...not just Skylanders.
