I am guessing either around Chinese New Years 1/31/14 or are they going to follow Jade Flashwing with a St.Patrick's Day release around 3/17/14. Whichever release date are we looking at another Target debacle?

Chinese New Year is my guess.

Seems like a holiday variant like the Easter Trigger Happy and Jolly Bumbleblast. So it'll likely be at all retailers (I hope).

Jade Fire Kraken might be a Target exclusive since Jade Flash Wing was a Target exclusive but who knows.

Jade Fire Kraken may be like Jolly Bumble Blast, and released during a particular event (Chinese New Year or St. Patrick's Day would be my guess), but available at more than one retailer. The trend for variations seems to put the Nitro at Target, the Enchanted at Wal-Mart, Legendary (as always) at TRU, and everyone else has regular stock outside of the specials like Jolly or Jade. Totally a guess though *shrug*

Yeah, because the whole Parade Dragon thing has nothing to do with that.... The dragon dance is a highlight of Chinese New Year celebrations.

I'd say Chinese New Year, if his name was different - like "Jade New Year Fire Kraken" or something like that. In Lost Islands, the special character is "New Year Countdown", for example. I'd say Jade has more to do with an extension of the line that started with Jade Flashwing, than being indicative of a nationality, particularly since console games were banned in China until a few days ago. Yes, it is a style of dragon similar to lore from that region, as is Jade a material that is frequently used in that region.

My personal guess is around St. Patrick's Day, Target exclusive. But that's just based on a hunch. I think they are going to avoid explicitly naming holidays, we had "Jolly" Bumble Blast, not "Christmas" or "Santa" (though he was dressed like that). We have "Springtime" Trigger Happy, not "Easter" (though his theme indicate that). To avoid association with specific nations or regions, they are apparently trying to associate the figures with holidays without tying them directly to it. Jade, being green, is a strong indicator of St. Patrick's Day, even though the theme is also indicative of Chinese New Year. Simple, release it in the middle and people can associate it with whatever holiday floats their boat.

I also have a feeling we are going to see retailer lines now. Legendary is obviously TRU. Other retailers may want in on that game. Target might be Jade and Nitro. Walmart has Enchanted. That may be making assumptions, but if I were running Walmart or Target, I'd want a special line of figures for a popular franchise too.

No offense but why would they release it whole year from now? Yeah they held back on Lightcore Hex, but that was released same day as Swap Force, not a year and 3 months later.

31 jan only 3 weeks away lets see either that day or another 2 months...

st patricks day is march 17th, if target does it again it will prob come out march 16th in their ad. It could be linked to Chinese new year but i think ppl are assuming this because it's a dragon and wouldn't if it was say jade grilla drilla. Then you also have fire krakans attacks having fireworks...


3 weeks till the 31st if it's coming we will prob hear about it very soon.

If it is a Target exclusive I am beginning to think it will be St. Patrick's day release. With just 3 weeks till Chinese New Year if it is a Target exclusive we would have heard something from Lesty by now.

The way some people were bashing Target about the wave 3, Lesty might be a little more apprehensive about giving info for now on.

Still no release info about Jade huh? Poor Lesty really got the brunt of all that crazy stuff. Honestly, it's not like it was a conspiracy to deny fans of the figs....

Since he has yet to be released and this thread asks a relevant question, it seemed more reasonable to ressurect this rather than making a new one. Mods don't like multiple threads of the same thing, if I'm not mistaken. Or did I do something wrong?

If this is going to be a St. Patrick's day release it seems odd there is no news on him. Walmart has enchanted star strike coming soon US, Target has Nitro freeze blade coming soon US. Could Jade be a Gamestop exclusive? Only thing Gamestop has had exclusive for swap force was dark starter packs. They seem due for an exclusive to get in the game. No pun intended.

Who knows at this point. The correct answer to St. Patrick's Day or Chinese New Year is "Neither". We have three new variants imminent (Enchanted Star Strike, Nitro Freeze Blade & Springtime Trigger Happy), a new Wave this week - so apparently they are holding back a bit on Jade Fire Kraken (and Kickoff Countdown). Assigning some seasonal meaning to Jade was an assumption on our part, one that turned out wrong.

Looking forward to JFK since I can try the other path at least.

I am seriously starting to question this figure's existence. I mean we haven't heard Jack Crap about him since the Lost Island thing. Is there proof this figure will ever be made let alone released?

Yes, of course.. We have official artwork, in-game models, Lost Islands, etc.

This leads me to think that it is probably safe to assume that Kick of Countdown will have nothing to do with the world cup.

Maybe we're just being too presumptive that Jade is meant to go along with some parcticular event.

Kick Off still could, though -- Jolly Bumble Blast came up out Christmastime as expected, Springtime Trigger Happy coming out right as Spring is about to begin....

If Jade was for the 4th, then wouldn't he be red white and blue? I mean, who associates the 4th with green and gold? Or wait....is it another country's holiday?? I didn't even think of that!! Activision has been pushing Skylanders aggressively overseas...even having special events and giving them some of the varients before the US, so....it might be possible. And as for the suggestion that he'll be a 4th game preorder bonus....please don't jinx things....if Activision thinks they can get away with it, they might do it...

Most likely not for any particular holiday. Unless you count Activision Wants More Money day as an event. At this point, it looks to be later on, probably to keep the hype running up to the announce of game 4. I still think he will be a Target thing, maybe after they get their mileage out of Nitro Freeze Blade.
