Target seems to be the only place with a skylanders sale (other than TRU with Buy 1 Get 1 40% off til new years). It wasn't as good as expected it's only Buy 2 get 1 50% off (so effective 16% off each). It only shows Spy Rise and Stink Bomb in the add and it has the usual limited quantities stipulation. There is no guarantee that they will have them either since we have many reports of stores putting them out early. Oh well happy hunting on Sunday and may the odds be ever in your favor.

I gotta admit, TRU has been on the ball with nice deals since pretty much all month. I have to wonder if they've maybe got a lot of backed up stock. I mean, I figure that ALL the stores would be trying to match their deals as much as possible.

The main reason no one is trying to match their prices is because no one gets as much stock of them as they do. In my local TRU there is a huge display on the wall just past the entrance plus a smaller floor display and then they have even more in the electronics department. The second reason is that they are natively overpriced so "most" people will wait until they have some kind of sale. My problem with them is just a local thing. Our store is located in Tenneesee (9.5% tax) and it's the same distance from other stores in Virginia (5.3% tax) plus we the Target is in Virginia and I get the redcard discount.

Apparently sales are brisk with these guys...my Targets have oodles of Rip Tide and Scorp and a few Star Strikes...very little else...no swappers of any sort. TRU has slaughtered the competition for Swap Force...I don't think I've purchased ANY outside of TRU except for Amazon Black Friday and the Target Nitro exclusive.

This does seem very disappointing. Lesty acted as if we would be very happy and wouldn't have to match any one else's sales, this week. This seems to be a weak sale. B1G1 50% off I can see, but B2G1 50% off? That's not much of a sale.

That's still $7 savings. Better than nothing if you gotta have the swappers now. Assuming you can find them (from what I see...anyone that didn't go to Target on 12/26 is pretty much out of luck).

Kmart's B2G1 Free promotion is still going on. Will Target match the promo? I have the physical ad. I tried matching at Best Buy (I have certificates), but they said that they don't match promo offers, only prices.

^this, 100% this. Riptide and Scorp are the Flashwing shelfwarmers of this game. And TRU is decimating Target and Walmart on reliability and selection this time around. I was able to snag the three new swappers at Target today, but only by asking. The shelves were a barren debris field.

TRU has done the best job with skylanders, but I don't think target, walmart, or game stop are second. Best Buy has had a large selection, that was restocked often, and their sale prices were better than toys r us (although they weren't on sale as often.)
As far as this release is concerned I don't think people are looking at it objectively. I grabbed one of the W3 core at TRU and paid full price of 10.99 on the day of release. TRU charges 16.99 retail for swappers, target charges 14.99, that's 6 dollars off the bat. so $37.48 for 3 swappers on the day of release vs a full retail price at TRU which would be $51. I'd say that's a pretty good deal, especially on release day. Now, if they mismanaged stock and they are going to have empty shelves all week, that's a completely different story and that has little to do with corporate "Target" and everything to do with managing employees and inventory on a store level. |

Kinda dissapointed that my store put the Swappers out early. I found at least 4 of each SpyRise and Rubblerouser but no StinkBomb. There are no trucks on Saturday or Sunday so hopefully they have a box or two still in the back that have StinkBomb. And I really don't see how the Target sale isn't any better than ToysRUs. You're going to buy all 3 swappers anyways so you get one half off. You would actually be paying less at Target for 3 swappers with their deal than you would at ToysRus with their Buy 1 Get 1 40% off. If you only plan on getting two swappers then just price match to ToysRus at guest services.

This is very region dependent. While yes, TRU's selection is definitely much larger than any of the other major retailers, their prices are also higher, and their promos less stellar. It's because of this, I have yet to buy a single item from them. Sure, I may have to wait a little longer for the W3 Core figures to be widely available, but I'd rather save money than get instant gratification. Also, the Targets in my area have a great selection. Nearly every one in my area has all the W1 and W2 items in stock at all times. The W3 swappers are a bit harder to come by, but like many others on here, I was able to get mine early.

Going to chime in and agree with Azure that Target is always a barren mess when I go to check for landers there. I have only purchased the adventure pack there because I had a giftcard and then also the 3 new swappers today. I was able to get my hands on the new 3 today after asking a girl in electronics about having them in the back. She brought out the case cut it open and let me have at it.
With Giants and SSA I almost never purchased at TRU and almost always bought from Target with the occasional Walmart. With SF it's just like most everyone else, all TRU. |

TRU's B1G1 40% promo is very overrated when you factor in the markup and do the math. TRU - Core: 12% - Swappers: 9.33% B2G1 50%: 16.67% B2G1 Free: 33.33%

The $7 savings might still be nice. Don't get me wrong. It's better than nothing. But while other places are doing B2G1 free (including Target previously) it's a bit of a disappointment. Especially after Lesty said we wouldn't need to price match because we would be very happy with the deal.

For the most part I have bought from toys r us, except for the starters and the adventure club at times for gamestop and the nitro double pack at target. I have to get online when dealing with toys r us and since i tend to get everything i need by means of enough for free shipping, i don't have to leave the house to go fetch and saves me time from store hunting.
I think the other stores will offer better deals down the road but for now any that offer 2 with 1 50% off tends to be a rip off after the giant sales. Gamestop who knows may pull half off again by june of 2014. I'd say by availability this time around for future waves that the wait game is a better one this time. I've seen online wise toys r us tends to get more in quickly compared to others and with their deal tends to make it a better choice.

I don't think anyone is understanding why you won't need to price match. Toysrus has Buy 1 get 1 40% off. There are 3 new swappers so you will be buying three figures right?(those who have none of the new swappers yet). So by paying for 2 and getting 1 for 50% off you are saving more than you would if you went to Toysrus and bought 3 figures. |

Their excuse was that there was no street date, so they put them out when they arrived.

Well, I went to target before heading to work today. I posted earlier about calling ahead to reserve my copies and there was no one in electronics this morning when I got there. I looked on the shelves and they had flashwing, rip tide and some giants, and 1 lone free ranger sitting on the demo portal, no wave 3. Thankfully when I did get someone to help me, my copies were locked up exactly as the night worker told me they would be. So I may be one of the few who actually got there wave 3 swappers for the sale price today.

They had 2 swappers for $22, some sales on older stuff, not sure what else sale wise. But they have that points thing with their rewards card. Overall I've gotten about $45 in credit from that that I used on the wave 3 corelanders. They also have that gill grunt, which isn't really a sale but a nice incentive. I've gotten all my swap force from TRU except for Enchanted Hoot Loop and these newest three swappers. But it hasn't really been the sales that got me there. Their selection is so good, the employees always seem to know what is going on, they hold stuff for the regulars, and last but not least the emails that they send out when the new stuff is released telling you to come in the next day are sooooo nice. No running around to stores not knowing if they are in or not and asking employees that have no idea what you are talking about. With giants they would sometimes have 6 of something and it would suck if you were further down in the line, but this time around they have had plenty. I realize this is just my experience with my local store and other people may have lousy TRUs, but they've been so great here at mine that I kinda felt a little guilty buying the new swappers somewhere else. |

Yup, and they were under the tree too. TRU is the only place that seems to do street dates right (for the most part ... ahem Jolly Bumble Blast, but that was a shipping error). This might have been ok, but it turned into a mad scramble for most when they had to run from Target to Target looking for who put them out early. It put those that found out about this a month ago and were patiently waiting at a disadvantage to those that just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Either don't do street dates or just do them correctly. But, if you really want to be honest, none of us should have known about the ad before today. Target didn't intend for us to know until we opened our Sunday paper over our morning coffee. |

Yea I wished I had gotten the 3ds version while it was on sale then I wouldn't have to wait for volcanic eruptor to get a single release (let's hope). Since I'll probably get the dark edition when gamespot has the mini promo and then just end up selling the extra game.
**EDIT** I have a lot more time to wait because there are atleast 5 gamestops within 20 miles of me and all of them still have a descent selection and they don't seem to be selling fast. I may buy the 3ds starter pack (When it goes on sale again) and just give it to my nephews since I already have the game and portal because I falsely thought they would release him in the US.

I wouldn't count on a single release, at least if you are in the US. You might be able to import one, but it might be more expensive than simply getting the Starter and selling off what you don't need. As far as the Dark Edition later, well you might want to accelerate your schedule, those are dwindling fast, the 360 and Wii versions seem to be all that are left around. |

I think the reason you get those single releases outside of the US is because the 3DS is less common over there. Activision wants to sell the figure, but they want to sell the 3DS starter even more. They can count on more 3DS Starters selling in the US, since the install base is pretty high. Outside the US, they will simply settle for selling another single figure.
