-We share 50% of our DNA with bananas.

-The entire Internet weighs about as much as a strawberry.

-A microwave uses more energy to keep its clock running than it does to cook food.

-The average cell phone has about 500 times more bacteria than a toilet seat.

-There are more living organisms in a teaspoon of soil than there are people in the world.

-If everyone in the world lived like the average American, we would need 4-5 Earths to sustain us. If everyone in the world lived like the average Indian, we would only need half of the Earth.

-By statistics, going to work every day is more dangerous than going to war.

-Scientists estimate that there are over 200 types of cancer we haven't discovered yet.

-Sting rays frequently jump out of the water, sometimes as high as 9 feet, for no apparent reason.

Term "useless knowledge" would fit to be a name.
And I already knew all this. Science is for learning something new. You failed this time.
Also you have bigger chance of dying on your way to buy a lottery ticket, than actually winning the lottery.

1. There is no such thing as useless knowledge, for knowledge is inspiring to everyone, as learning something you did not know before, no matter how trivial, will boost your confidence to a higher level and therefore make you feel enabled to constantly learn more and grow as a person. If it does not, then you do not value it, and thus you do not deserve to grow as a person.

2. You cannot say "science is for -insert something here-" because science is the interactions of processes in the natural world. It exists of its own accord, and its purpose cannot be defined by man on any deeper level than to facilitate the functions of the universe.

Now tell me, who really failed this time?

Eh, too lazy right now, just Google all of it and you'll find multiple sources. If something's wrong, correct me.

I wasn't being that serious, a small joke. It's just that university makes you search for the source of any information to the point where the fun in trivial information is taken away.

The Fact Sphere is the most intelligent sphere.
The Fact Sphere is the most handsome sphere.
The Fact Sphere is incredibly handsome.
The Fact Sphere is always right.
The Adventure Sphere is a blowhard and a coward.
The Space Sphere will never go to space.
You will never go into space.
Fact: Space does not exist.
Spheres that insist on going into space are inferior to spheres that don't.
The Fact Sphere is a good person, whose insights are relevant.
The Fact Sphere is a good sphere, with many friends.
Whoever wins this battle is clearly superior, and will earn the allegiance of the Fact Sphere.
The Fact Sphere is not defective. Its facts are wholly accurate and very interesting.

1. Useless knowledge, that is completely trivial, has no way of helping you in anyway in the future, I'd consider useless. But it may or may not make you feel like learning and boost your confidence, depends what kind of information-trivia it is, and what kind of person you are.
And you grow as a person trough your life, not by learning, but by experiencing the human emotion, learning to control it, you grow by your surroundings, what you see, what you experience. And there is a reason when others are better in other situations than others.

2. Science IS for learning new. The progress in learning. I could give examples but I'm way too tired now.
Also, the interactions of processes in the natural world is called evolution.

1. I didn't say it was the ONLY thing that can help you grow. Also, this isn't useless information because to SOMEONE, it will come in handy in their profession. Don't think that you're the only person on Earth and you can declare what's useless and what isn't.

2. You still don't get it. One person cannot determine the purpose of science. Doing so would imply that you know everything, and thus saying that would be the equivalent of calling yourself God. Nobody knows why science exists. All we know is that it lies in every single event that happens in the universe.

AND NO, THE INTERACTIONS OF PROCESSES IN THE NATURAL WORLD IS NOT ****ING EVOLUTION. Evolution is the process of how living beings biologically change to adapt to their environments over time. The natural world does not just include living beings.

FACT:

A giant whale is about as much as an hour if it is cut in quarters and fed to chinese sweatshop workers, the backbone of all corporate reptilians.

DOUBLE FACT:

Checkers originally began when Oreo's produced a Strawberry Flavoured Oreo that didn't taste good, so they promoted it with a game they called Oreo Game, which later changed to Checkers after Nintendo bought it.

Michael Crichton (guy who wrote Jurassic Park among a ton of science thrillers) doesn't seem to think peer reviewed stuff guarantees you're getting the best quality information. *brick'd* I KNOW IT'S A JO-... *brick'd again* x.x;

Because, if you can't 'helium' or 'curium', you 'BARIUM'!
