I'd thought I'd come here first to see if anyone can help me with this issue before I either ask on another forum or return my game. I bought The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim back when it was released in 2011. My PSN account doesn't seem to be working and I wanted the three add-ons Dawnguard, Dragonborn and Hearthfire so I purchased the Skyrim Legendary Edition. The manual says that I can use my old saves on Skyrim (my old character) to play with the add-ons. However, when I load the add-ons and play using the Legendary Edition disc on my PS3, the old saves aren't there. I've already researched this issue and others don't seem to be having this problem.
I'd greatly appreciate any advice or help.

Have you checked if you still have your old saves on your system? Didn't accidentally delete them whilst clearing up some data or anything? To check, go to the "Save Game Data" section on the XMB under the "Games" tab and see if any Skyrim data is there. If not, that'll be your problem.

They're still there. If I play using my original Skyrim disc they'll show up, but not on my Legendary Edition even though the legendary edition uses the same naming format for save files so the previous saves should show up. A leaflet in the Legendary Edition box states "If you've already played Skyrim, you will see your saves in the Load/Save menus, so you can continue with an existing character." So why is this an issue? Anyways, thank you very much for your suggestion. You've at least helped me eliminate a potential problem. |

Considering this is my own topic, I'll double post. Anyways, since I haven't had any other advice or solutions, would it be wise of me to return the game any see if I can individually buy the add-ons for my copy of Skyrim? Or should I hold onto the game until a solution is found or a patch is created?

Well, the best choice is to just start the game again really. I know it's a pain (believe me, I switched to PC from PS3 and was annoyed that I'd have to start again) but it won't cost you any more money. If you return the game, you'll still end up spending more money on the expansion packs individually than you did on the Legendary Edition.

I'd actually spend slightly less if I return the Legendary Edition and buy the add-ons separately. But I have the game of the year editions for both Morrowind and Oblivion and so buying the Legendary Edition, it felt like a "complete" collection. After reading an article, I assume there will be no more patches made for Skyrim. Even though the amounts of bugs that causes the game to become unplayable are everywhere. I'm going to write to Bethesda's technical support branch explaining the problem. Hopefully they'll be able to tell me whats wrong. Thanks again. |

Well, I've just figured out the problem. My original version of Skyrim is a BLES (Europe/Australia) format whilst the Legendary Version was a BLAS (Asia) format. So the Legendary Edition couldn't recognise my original save files because they were saved under a different format.
I'll probably have to try buying the game from the UK where all games are BLES format. |
