Thanks, Charred, that workaround is working perfectly. I don't normally take advantage of time travel since I find it's just not as satisfying to speed through leveling and goals but since the devs "forced" me to TT in order to work around their bug, I used it to collect enough gems to get all the new characters. Sure, maybe I did it a few times more than was necessary but I'll just consider that compensation for the missed EoD collects and inconvenience.

Yes i have been aeroplane moding it all weekend to get the bonuses. Works quite well, just have to pop back out to real time to send and collect the friend gifts

What fixes it, is to turn on airplane mode and change the day then change it back. This prevents the game from phoning home. The two things you mention also trigger the game to phone home.

Doing so doesn't really fix element of the day - it started being displayed, no more empty place in the popup window. But still no shrines are working after that trick.
However, you gave me an idea about Molekin Market and its 24-hours cycle
I think they will fix this very soon like they fixed ability to have more than one Molekin Market. But now you can use this trick with very good outcome if you can generate enough resources within 24 hours period.

So I turned on airplane mode before I logged into the game today. I could see that the element of the day was fire. However no bonuses from shrines or crops.

Mine is magic and I am currently getting bonuses. However, usually ends after a bit.

Hi I am a newbie dewbie and i am also suffering from technical elemental difficulties .

I actually did not think too much about my element of the day being broken , then this happened ...... Its probably a VERY good idea not to explore your friends kingdoms for a while , thats what i was doing at the time .

98 % of all my structures , and decorations including the elemental sanctuaries have vanished . My thousands of Mabu workers have been reduced to 11 .

My Mabu companions and skylanders and alter ego,s are still all intact.

It does not look good for me . Thank you to all my new kudo "friends" I will keep sending daily gifts as long as possible but i am probably going to have to restart sometime .

I do have an activate account but i think it saved this KAOS APOCALYPSE . Maybe they can reset my kingdom a half a week back or something ? Anyway i will wait and see what they say .

I've been able to get the EoD bonuses to consistently work by doing the following: 1) Go into airplane mode; 2) Set the clock one day ahead; 3) Enter the game and wait for the EoD to display. The best way to verify it's working is to check your shrines for exclamation/stone collection icons, but I've also found that bonuses are working if the EoD in the character selection screen is lit; 4) Go back to settings and set the clock one day back, to the current date; 5) Repeat step 3.
EDIT: You'll need to stay in airplane mode for this to work consistently. When you're ready to go back online it's a good idea to not have any active tasks. Even though I was only changing the date, not the time, my clock somehow crept about an hour ahead during one of my time jumps. I didn't notice this until I went back online and set the clock to automatic time, so every active task had that hour added to remaining time.

My one thought on this.... Did they change it to make it so that you could only get some many stones from the shrines? That is my one question on it because it seems to work until I get three stones out of shrines and then quits and takes away any other bonuses from it.

So how does one safely time travel to get around this glitch? I've never done it and don't find it very tempting, but this is getting frustrating. I'm worried that it'll mess up my active timed quests and adventure balloons.

Many of us haven't been able to get any stones. It seems a bit random when it works. As mentioned a few posts above, it's a known issue and they're working on it. Being that it's the holidays, I don't see it being fixed for a few days.

I'm trying not to jinx it, but mine is currently working for the first time in days. I'm getting stones and my bonuses. I'm not going to visit anyone at least right now, but I've closed the game and returned and been okay.

This really sucks because I just saw that the alter egos are back in the wishing well, and somehow I've never managed to get Hoppity, Cupid, or Lucky Boomer. But I can't spend stones when I'd rather save for the January alter ego, especially when I'm unexpectedly short due to no stones from shrines

I'm happy I haven't been conting the number of stones I've missed out on. This is my holiday break and the first time I've been able to look at my islands more than maybe once a day!

I was logged in when the time flipped. So I got a bonus for the first time. However it all went away again. I too will be short on stones this time and really want my only missing alter ego surfer slam bam.

This is a really poor time to break the element of the day and is going to generate a ton of ill will towards the game.

Really sloppy coding.

I'm still showing the element of the day but now no bonuses or stones. Guess I jinxed it. Or it only worked because it was just after midnight. I entered a bunch of new skylanders today that my nephew received for Christmas. It kind of stinks that this had to happen now.

Any chance the developers will take pity and offer the Alter Egos for gems? I dropped nearly 2,000 wishstones chasing them over Thanksgiving and will toss another 2,000 this time around. However, if the shrines were working, I probably would have had closer to 3,000. I would rather spend the gems and get it over with.

You can get as many wish stones as you wish if you turn off access to the Internet by switching to airplane mode in iOS and then you can go back and forth in time for example by one day - every time you will get new elemental totems. Rinse and repeat.

Um yeah this glitch is kinda really irritating me.

So yesterday was the 24th. I checked what would be the element of the day for the 25th (today). I forget which one it was but I know it was one I had a shrine for. Now it says today's (25th) element of the day is nothing. It's completely blank. Now it says that tomorrow's (26th) element of the day will be magic. Now I am going to be seriously irked if my magic shrine is not giving me any stones. And even more irked if he element of the day shows up blank again.

Can't always blame the developers - software will always have bugs. The testers / QA team hold the approval process. The blame is more on them :-)

has element of the day ever worked on the houses?

I'm actually glad the element of the day is broken. I know it's frustrating for most, but I've found I'm not as interested in playing every hour to collect stones. That's been a huge relief as I spend time with my family. Plus I finally decided to send all my adventuring Skylanders on those 22 hr missions they needed to finish their goals. I had a lot built up because I didn't them gone that long (especially swappers, and even more so for those swappers I only have one element of).

I probably have to agree with that . Lost Islands is a very very addictive game . I probably spent more time on it than the PS and DS Spyro Adventure combined .

Its so cool to see all your toys together and mingling , not to mention those flashy lights and balloons when you complete a quest .

The heart pounding stress when you want to complete a timed quest for a lovely prize .

Even now my kingdom is broken its so hard to let go because well starting from scratch i am gonna lose all those mabu companions and skylanders i dont have but won . I bought a legendary bouncer 3 weeks ago just to put his code into my kingdom for no other reason i won a hall of legends .

I only played for two and half months , i cannot imagine the burn if someones kingdom crashed after he played for a year .

Yep, today is magic and I'm not getting any stones.

Tomorrow is water and I'm pretty sure I'll have the same outcome.

The shrines are like my main income of stones, and with the thing where the past alter egos come back to the wishing well 'til new years, that's extremely irritating.

Aloha! I am new to this site and am wondering if anyone has news about the broken 'element of the day'? I read some older posts where some folks think stones might be getting phased out? No news on Activate Community either. Mahalo!

Advisor_Orville (who is a developer on the game) acknowledged that it was an issue and was being worked on. No one expected a fix before the holidays, and Activate normally releases updates on Monday (US time) or sometimes on Tuesday.

There's been discussion on the devaluation of stones because Halls of Legend were switched from a cost of 200 wish stones to 500 gems for a few days before a rare Friday update switched them back, which most of us believe was a glitch. I don't think stones will go away, but it will be interesting to see if Activision does anything new with them.

If they are going to make a radical change, then I hope they give fair warning rather than repeat the hall of legend debacle. I don't see the reversion as a glitch but a quick reaction to the massive negative outcry for the blind sided change. I'm still mad that I'm out 1500 gems from that.

Ugh, this is seriously irking me. Tomorrow is going to be fire and I probably won't be getting wish stones. I'm hoping to get another alter ego before the year ends but shrines are my main income of stones and it's not working. How am I supposed to fix this!? I'm really getting impatient now!

From what I can tell.... there seems to be a trigger that makes the element of the day quit working for me. The more I play the faster it breaks. It's like collecting X amount of stones from a shrine or getting so much extra from crops/adventures makes it break.

I was hoping the element of the day was fixed, as it worked when I was on, during the roll over into the next day and seemed to be working once again. Once I turned the game off to go to sleep though and came back it was broken again. I'm going to try and see if I can be on during the roll over again and seem if it triggers again.


** So I was logged in for the roll over at midnight playing the game. The Element of the Day kicked over active again. Continued to be active for several hours. Saved to my cloud and logged into the game on another device. Its dead. Went back over to the original device it was working on. Dead again. At this point the daily seems to work if I'm signed on during the roll over and the game stays active. If at any point I log out of the game, it dies, an doesnt reactivate until the next day if I'm on at the midnight switch over.

I agree with you with the report of stones, but I have not quite clear if the worst is the loss of stones, or the loss of crops and travel bonuses. At this time the stones are important for which we need some old alter-ego, but the lost in coins and energy is very high every day (I'm 27 altars in total), I only growing energy certain days and when I match the element of the day and also take the opportunity to raise the level of my current skylanders sending them when coincide with the day element.
This glitch is sucks, I also get to collect some stones when the day changes, but then the game is restarted (this morning it closed byself) and the element of the day broked again.

Maybe a Super Tuesday where every element is the EotD could help catch everyone up after it is fixed.

This is sad. I have lost millions of coins because the element of the day broken.
Between this "glitch" that has been alive for two weeks, the impossibility to win alter egos in the well and the lack of space in the islands, I am considering giving up the game. Actually, when I run out of gems, I will uninstall the app.
I expect a compensation for the missing coins, but I am sure there will be nothing at all.

I don't have the EotD problem

Mine worked all day yesterday. It was working when I won New Year Countdown this morning also. I came back this morning and couldn't gift anything and had to restart my phone. Well, I lost all my progress about 10% from 28-29 and New Year Countdown. Didn't lose my stones though. My EotD is not working now. I did win Surfer Slam Bam though and New year countdown.

Oh for goodness sake .... when are they ever going to fix this element of the day bug. It's been 3 weeks now, and I've lost out on hundreds of stones. What was the point of spending 100's of gems on shrines if they just produce coins. Come on Activision, are you coders still on holiday?

It's really only been 2 weeks. They sent a huge update down on Dec. 20th (the Friday before Christmas) that broke the element of the day. This past Friday would have been 2 weeks. That update included an update for that day plus updates that would automatically be loaded for the next 2 Mondays. That leads us to believe that they weren't planning on being in, at all, for those 2 weeks. They probably won't be back to work until tomorrow (Monday). It's not unheard of. There are people that I work with that have been gone as long as they have (if not longer), even though I work in a place that doesn't even take off for Christmas day. Whether they have an update ready to launch when they get back this week would be uncertain. It's possible. So I wouldn't be surprised if they release an update, this week, and it still not fix it. With that said, fixing coding issues isn't always simple. So even when they get back, it might take them a little while to figure out the problem.

Mine was working fine for Friday and Saturday up until about 10 PM. For some reason I could not connect to Activate. So I had to restart my phone and that broke it.

I'm thinking Tuesday will be the earliest we see it fixed.

This bug has a relatively simple workaround.

First, the glitch is that when the game loads fresh (if either you killed the app, rebooted, visited friends, ran enough other apps or waited long enough that iOS killed the app, or the app cashed) then the element of the day will be broken until the day changes to another day (forward or back). You can tell if you are going to be glitched before even checking because you see the vicarious visions loading screen (blue sky, mostly empty). If you see this loading screen, you will be glitched. Staying online seems to also randomly glitch it while you are playing , but I cannot confirm this.

The workaround is simple:
1) go offline (airplane mode on iOS)
2) change the day (settings->general->date&time) either forward or back
3) launch game, clear chompies, bats, totems if you like, but be sure to not do anything else if you went forward. Going backwards is safer for that reason (but it will spawn more chompies , trolls, bats, and sheep) and of course it will not end your adventures.
4) go back and changed date again to today
5) launch game again. If you do not see the launching screen, but instead see your same game, and then the offer of the day, and the new day reward, then you did it right.

the element of the day will continue to work until it has to fully reload the game again, or when you go online. I have had it continue to work for several real days this way.

If it ever breaks, just toggle the day back and forward again to fix it.

This does work only if you are in game with working element of the day at the moment when timer on shrines expires and they are ready to give you wish stones. If you leave the game after that (and will see loading VV screen next time) even if your element of the day will be shown up in the popup window, shrines will be broken until you time travel to switch element of the day back to work.
It's kinda not very comfortable to go to the game every time before next hour and time travel one day back and forth. But in general - yes, you can "fix" shrines and element of the day bonuses this way.

Yes, I agree. Of course a holiday break is understandable, but weeks (over 2 for me) of unaddressed malfunctions is not good PR. No messages here since the one on 12/23 from ATVIAssist (2 weeks ago) to address posts. The first post here is 12/21 - 17 days ago and counting.
